2.2 million go on disability since mid-2010; fraud explains falling unemployment rate. Should collecting money from the government be considered as "employment" by the Obama administration?

Considering that you would have to be "unemployed" to collect unemployment, I'd have to say no here.

It's never a good idea to kid yourself about statistics. That goes for Obama, but it also goes for the bulletheads on the right. Statistics show that disability claims have not suddenly spiked, but are about like they have been since the Americana with Disabilities Act was passed. One in four Americans will become disabled at some point in their lifetime. Nearly half of them will be seniors when they become disabled. Causes include loss of hearing, blindness, mental problems including dementia, retardation, spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries.

This is just an example of the truely massive amount of fraud in all federal systems. Why would we agree to increased taxation until all federal programs are completely audited?

Yeah....audits don't cost anything either. Maybe we allow some of this waste and fraud due to the cost to get rid of it. Sort of like outlawing abortions, drugs and many other things...and then how do we pay for the policing of these new laws?

Petri, it really depends on the size and scope of fraud in the system. I believe most of them are absoluteloy riddled with fraud. I'm not alone in seeing things like the person in line ahead paying with food stamps then driving away in a car that still has the new car sticker on it. Thats just as casual example there are many more.

What the people who have paid their taxes need to believe that it is really going to the people we keep hearing about, the needy. It's the same concept as wanting to have photo ID. It isn't as much as the amount of fraud but the assurance that the vote is honest.

The casual example is never the true norm....it is the meme the repugs want to sell to everyone. Most welfare recipients aren't made richer by it and they still struggle. So let's not lie so easily about how all welfare people conduct their lives. The welfare queen is not the typical story for welfare...and the continued push by the right to make this "seem" like the norm is a serious untruth.

The photo ID is just as bad as the welfare meme....it supposes that there is so much voter fraud happening...and pushing the belief makes people think there is more of it than there truly is...it plays upon social fears...by propagating false hysteria. But this is all a smoke screen for what the rethugs really want....lower voter turnout which helps them. Why are convicted felons not allowed to vote in many states, even after they have served their time? Do you think this is all a coincidence that blacks are the largest proportional felons? Voter fraud is a Rethuglican manufactured issue to disenfranchise low income and the marginalized among us...and that is the real truth.

The definition of employment is: "working for pay". A person receiving any money from the government that they're NOT WORKING for is NOT employment. It's not rocket science. Simple concept.
