Government promised us jobs by using taxpayer funds to spend on projects -- the administration called it "Stimulus Spending." The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) spent some of its money on "Next Generation Identification Program" developed by Lockheed Martin Transportation and Security Solutions and IBM.

NGI will connect with tens of thousands of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to apply facial recognition to the American public. NGI has the ambitious goal "to reduce terrorist and criminal activities by improving and expanding biometric identification and criminal history information services through research, evaluation, and implementation of advanced technology."

GIZMODO.COM reports:
How would you feel if the government could easily track your movements by automatically identifying your face on images captured by the ever-growing network of CCTV of cameras in America? The FBI will be able to do just that soon, with its one-billion-dollar Next Generation Identification program.

While the government spends billions on cameras, and face recognition technology directed at us to spy on us all, people are being arrested for pointing cameras at police.

I hope I'm not the only one that sees the problem here. Its all about using our money and resources to keep us in line when its the government that stages criminal activities like fast and furious that needs the cameras pointed at them.

I agree with you Tim. We do need a highly dependable and stable platform from which to thwart attempted attacks on our nation. However Tim, I wonder about the cost. I am concerned about the costs, first in misinformation and miss identification. Second, I am more concerned about broadening Homeland Securities ability to validate their actions and agenda. I realize that we need security, and the ability to deal with threats. I also know that our knee jerk reaction to terror, has given rise to unbelievable acts of civil violation, assaults, kidnappings, and the defiling of human and constitutional right. Do we not agree that these things are too high a cost?...Just a thought....

Besides... If tanks made up the national debt, we would be carpeted with tanks, tanks and more tanks. The focus of our debt, and its undoing, is far less obvious, and considerably smaller (as a pen usually is). Isnt it funny that people will search for a soap box in which to climb, and once there, just enjoy the view....Just a thought....

Hello? First, with you open ended statement, I have to ask. Have you ever seen what the rest of the dust ball owes us? Have you ever seen (or taken the time to look at) the list of benefactors of our foreign aid budget? Yes, we have debt, as does every nation on Earth. And to clarify China for you. What your pointing out is the bill, without ever looking at the conditions by which that bill occurred, or its resolution. Please research, and then post. Surely, it makes the conversations so much more rewarding...Just a thought...

Right, gov computers do not personally know you so they are set up to pry deeply. Things that they put into the computer to deem as suspicious are innocent minor nothings to us, but enough to get you looked at more. I WISH it was down to things for concerning like buying explosives, going to jihad websites etc but it is not. They look at how much food you have bought. Burn marks. Missing fingers. Here are many of the FBI flyers to different businesses saying what to look for.

If this had been attempted during the Bush years, you would have heard howls all the way from Washington D.C. about infringing on our civil liberties. Whenever Bush tried to implement new security measures to uncover terrorists, the left fought him every step of the way: The Patriot Act, Phone surveillance (wire-tapping). All opposed by the Socialist Democratic Party of America.
But you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube as the saying goes. Technology has run rampant and it will happen sooner or later whether or not the taxpayers pay for it or private industry develops it. My opposition is in the fact that the government is subsidizing it. The government should stop spending our money on anything except defense until we have a balanced budget. Let the free market develop facial recognition if and when the public demands it.
  • Carlo Patriot... 2012/09/12 12:51:49 (edited)
    Carlo
The Patriot act took away the most freedoms from Americans yet. Where is the security in the loss of civil liberties? The only thing George W. Bush did was fuk up our economy and take us to war unnecessarily. Yeah the socialist Democratic Party of America sure did appose it and any smart Republicans and Independents that cherished their freedom as well.
If the government wants it we will foot the bill regardless of what Americans think, because we keep putting these same people in congress back in office legislating the use of our money to do so.

If it’s used for security at airports, and in “needed” city areas for personal security.

But, Obama and the far left ass-holes are trying to CONCURE America, not govern it.

Next, the gun boondoggle laws for confiscation.

Bend over America, here is “Big Government Brother” running it up your ass.

I don't support it as I see little actual value, but I don't see any major reasons why we shouldn't have it either

While the benefit in my opinion is very slim compared to the cost, I don't really see it as invading privacy because it's in public areas, I would however be very worried if they put cameras on my property
  • Carlo Nathan ... 2012/09/12 12:56:31

What makes you think there wont be a camera on every street corner in america eventually.
And we will foot the bill for that as well.

    Good, funny.

However, the good would be the TSA would stop grabbing peoples ass and private parts if we are recognized by NGI and pass the body mass detectors.

It seems people on the run could alter their face to defeat the hidden cameras.

Sounds like an Obama-FBI-HLS boondoggle of federal spending.

Bend over American, here it comes $$ again!

You go from TSA grabbing ass to altered faces so you can make a statement about the President. Why didnt you just make the statement about the President, thats all you really wanted to do with all of it off topic to begin wth. And yes people changing their faces is so far fetched its off topic as well.

I think we definitely should put this in place for the Saudis. Since it was a majority of Saudis according to the news that were involved in the 9/11 attacks of 2011. (and on the 9/11 terrorist poster). I would start with them first, if thats the plan.
