About Me

I was a General Manager of a small business (65 employees) in Minnesota for 30 years and Vice President of operations for a medium size business (250 employees) for 5 years. I became a consultant to several large business firms for three years. I worked out of my home for one year in 1997 for a firm in Boston, MA writing government proposals and contracts. I should have been able to retire at the age of 65 but due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to work for an additonal 5 years. I am 70 years old and retired on August 31, 2008. The same day I retired I took up residence in Florida. The additional 5 years of savings into my IRA was wiped out in the financial crises of October, 2008. My IRA is back where it was in 2003.

I would like to meet and talk to sailors from the Enewetok Atomic Proving Grounds of the summer of 1958. Also, love to swap sea stories with former sailors especially Tin Can Sailors.

I was active in my trade associations for 30 years and became the national president of one of those groups in 1989.

I have a private pilots license and owned a Cessna 206 for several years. I have logged over 700 hours in single engine, land aircraft. I have always loved vegatable gardening. I am a member of the VFW and was a two term commander of a VFW post in Minnesota.

  • I don't think I want to know which parts.LOL. If you ever get down San Diego way ,they have turned the USS Midway into a museum.I took my wife aboard and she got a whole different view of what it's like to be on a carrier.She and I have had this Air Force/Navy thing going since we met.When she saw how small an area a Navy aviator has to land on she got a whole new respect for the Navy.They really did the old girl up nice. Good tour.

  • My father was a Gunnersmate 2nd class during WW2. I did not have a commission,I had to work for a living,And yes,I was an AMH3, a bubble chaser. On my second float,we were a day out of SD and the squadrons were to fly in from Miramar and North Island the next day. We had an FNG with us and we convinced him that his orders were in error and that he was on the wrong ship.We told him to pack his seabag, put on his bdu's ,get a flashlight and we would arrange his transfer.We instructed him to go to the stern and shine his flashlight up in the air so the helicopter that was coming for him could find the ship in the dark.As you could imagine it didn't take long for the OD to see this and have a talk with the FNG about being a new guy and shining flashlights at helo's that wouldn't be coming and such.So you got to see the really big booms! You don't glow in the dark now do you?lol

  • My dad was a China Sea sailor on the USS Reagal (gun boat) He was also on a few LST's in the pacific.I was on the USS Ranger,USS America and USS Constellation.Not a TIN CANNER like you,but would love to swap some stories.Thanks for the rave.

Wall street is not effected by government intervention as part of economic manipulation. The only thing government can do to help the economy is by helping american business prosper. Obama's plan of over taxing and over regulating american business must stop or he will kill the goose that lays his golden eggs. The democrats health care bill is going to the house floor for a vote on a Saturday when they think the oposition is "sleeping." If they are successful in "jamming this down the throats" of americans, they are going to see a protest that makes the Martin Luther King March on Washington look like Saturday morning breakfast at a cafe in Mobile, AL. Grey power in the United States is going to show just how powerful the elderly people of this country can be. This will happen without the dispicable AARP that is supposed to be help them.

    WE CANNOT AFFORD OBAMA AND PELOSI'S HEALTH CARE PACKAGE. If they ram this through on a Saturday, it will be repealed before taking effect. The entire democrat majority in the House of Representatives will expire after the November elections in 2010.     (more)

    Will our "smart bombs" be able to penetrate the protective shield of Iran's nuclear plants? A couple Stealth Bombers could take out the nuclear facilities but there would be considerable collateral damage, especially, if Russian scientists are working the in facilities.
