Green-Glowing Monkeys: Good For Science?

Japanese researchers have engineered green-glowing monkeys! The researchers inject a virus that contains the gene for green fluorescent protein, into the monkey embryos, which gives life to green-glowing monkey babies. These monkey's skin and blood will glow green under a special light. The point of all these green primates? Researchers are hoping to study the human Parkinson's disease ALS. With the green glow- it will illuminate tumor cells, toxins and other genes needed to be seen to study Parkinson's and ALS.

    Since it is true that animal testing is only valid on humans a mere 50% of the time, these experiments are unnecessary. The drug Vioxx is one of many good examples of testing done on animals that was found worthless (i.e. dangerous to deadly) when it came to humans. Animal testing is no longer acceptable and it only exists due to socio-economic reasons. In other words...once again it's all about the buck!

    IT IS SO WRONG! Monkeys dont anything to do with stupid human diseases! LEAVE THEM ALONE! So what if they can't talk? They still FEEL. They are way more HUMAN than the crazy scientists themselves.
    I can't wait to see a monkey experimenting on a human or a deer hunting a human for fun or a bull stabbing human with a sword. Don't mess with animals. They haven't done anything bad to us.
    We humans suck and should be very ashamed of ourselves.

    My friend's 47 year old step-father was diagnose w/ ALS last year. He died last week. If making a few monkeys glow green will lead to a cure...so be it.

    Gee, I don't know! I am all for curing those awful diseases, but then what are we doing to these poor monkeys? I guess it should be the humans we are more concerned with!

    Tough question...If it helps cure Parks and ALS then I must agree to do so. Something about this just makes me ill though. Hope it's not painfull for the monkey's.
