Astronomers Catch Supernova Exploding: What is the coolest thing you've seen in the sky?

Astronomers in Washington witnessed a Supernova and for the first time were able to catch it on camera. "A supernova is a dying star, but one much bigger than Earth's sun. It first explodes outwards, then shrinks into itself to form an extremely dense, cold ball. Sometimes a neutron star results and sometimes a black hole."

What is the coolest thing you've witnessed in the sky?

Moon halo. Seen both a shooting star and a few eclipses, but the halo was the most amazing thing.

Aurora Borialis, the northen lights. It was right here in Michigan because there was a solar flare in October 2003. The sky was red and it was moving a little bit.

a big meteor shower. I was running early one morning and it was awesome. Also, one time the moon was just enormous in size it was crazy.

Aurora borelis out in the middle of nowhere. No street lights around or nothing. The light show was AMAZING!!

I'm pretty sure it was a UFO. See, one night, when I was a kid, I went outside cause I heard thunder and I got this thing about watching lightening, and I was this wierd cloud in the sky and it was boiling and churning. It looked really cool, then this light shot out of the cloud to the ground. If you've ever seen those bright spotlights they use for clubs and grand openings that shine into the sky and you can see them from far away, it was like that. Except it was shining DOWN from the cloud!! There were a totall of three lights like that. It was almost like it was searching for something. Well, I lost my nerve and ran into my house. To this day I don't know what it was, but the memory is great.

yes as a teenager, along with my mother and my brother-in-law we saw a UFO flying almost over the house and a line of trees- very low, no noise and bright strange shape of light/ glow coming from it

It's amazing to look through a good scope, isn't it? Just beautiful........the nebula in Orion,.....it does look like a horse's head......!!!
