A 50-foot, 40-ton spider is positioned on the side of a building in Liverpool's Lime Street station is to "come alive" on Friday.

Whaaaaat?!?!?

Have no fear, it’s merely an elaborate bit of street theater that will take place at various landmarks throughout the city, culminating in a "spectacular finish" on Sunday. The BBC claims that the spider will be "exploring the city" sometime on Friday evening.

Bummer. I was genuinely hoping for a larger spider to attack the UK and do away with Amy Winehouse, Pete Doherty, Lilly Allen and all those other Limey lushes who keep hogging the US tabloids from truly deserving celebs like our own Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie and Kimberly Stewart.
