Who will win the Heisman Trophy in college football this year?

Eric August 29, 2007 00:00:43

The Heisman Memorial Trophy Award is considered the most prestigious award in American college football. The Heisman is given annually to the top football player in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The competition between college football teams this year is fierce. Players such as John David Booty (USC), Darren McFadden (Arkansas), and Mike Hart (Michigan) along with other players have all worked hard this season and the winner of The Heisman will be well deserving.
John David Booty, USC
Steve Slaton, W. Virginia
Brian Brohm, Louisville
Darren McFadden, Arkansas
Mike Hart, Michigan
Colt Brennan , Hawaii
Ray Rice, Rutgers
DeSean Jackson, California
Tim Tebow, Florida

    Hola

    John David Booty, USC

He had a stellar showing in 2006 and is a leading contender for the Heisman Trophy!
Will not be surprised when he receives that trophy.
    USC!!!!

if I had to choose... i think that Andre Woodson from Kentucky stands the best chance... but i think DJ Hall from Alabama should be a candidate, yet nobody even mentions him... his stats are better than any other WR on everyone's list yet he gets no respect...
we'll see how many eyes light up when JPW hits DJ for about 150 yards against LSU this weekend...
and how many heisman lists he hits.

Tim Tebow is awesome, not to mention he's a Christian. God bless him and what he's doing for the Gators. Go Gators!!

    Colt Brennan , Hawaii

Colt Brennan's numbers blow away everyone on the list. But he's from a small school which is very pass-slanted (unbalanced), so that may work aganst him. If his team (as a awhole) does well this year, and he keeps up his numbers, then he deserves the heisman.

    Steve Slaton, W. Virginia

Steve Slaton is the real thing. Most of the others happen to either be from the big schools or have never been tested.
You need to remember that each school has a vote and there are plenty of sportswriters who believe that it's time to reward the smaller schools.

I will go with Booty because, well, I think I am obligated to but I am not totally convinced. He has matured A LOT from last season- he now seems like the old man on the team.

Still, he still needs some work. He was very jumpy last year and incredibly uncomfortable in the pocket. I wasn't too happy to see that he is still having issues with delivering in the end zone. In last Saturday's game he had at least 2 missed receivers in the end zone because he threw it too high.
Still, he puts on amazing performances (see Notre Dame and Michigan game) and has the talent. Nebraska will be a true determiner.

    Darren McFadden, Arkansas

A sentimental favorite is Darren McFadden of Arkansas, simply because he was awesome last year, but with a less than stellar line and Arkansas' failings in the past, we'll just have to wait and see.

Uh.... JD Booty won't win it after last night's performance (or lack thereof). He had modest numbers going into the game against the Stanford Cardinal. Booty will need to do better just to keep his starting QB role at USC.

DeShaun Jackson looks great. Tebow has done well.

Think you may be absolutely correct. Tebow had a rough night against a very good LSU football team. Still too early and too much can happen. I have watched many a Heisman candidate fade fast in years past.

For what it is worth, I believe the two best quarterbacks in the country will go head to head on January 8, 2009 in Miami. I am really looking forward to this match up. I met Tim Tebow at a luncheon 2 years ago, but have not had the pleasure of meeting young Mr. Bradford. Mr. Tebow is a stand up young man. His success has not gone to his head.

It's hard to say who'll win since the season hasn't even started, but McFadden shows a lot of great potential.
