"Our job [as parents] is not to raise mild mannered, compliant, sleeping children. Our job is to raise happy, healthy, contributing ADULTS. And its a long road to get there."
~Anonymous
"People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it."

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure…We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?… There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do…as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same."

"Practice rather than preach. Make of your life an affirmation, defined by your ideals, not the negation of others. Dare to the level of your capability then go beyond to a higher level."
~ Alexander Haig
"When you refuse to forgive someone, you still want something from that person, and even if it is revenge that you want, it keeps you tied to him forever."
~from "Boundaries" by Henry Cloud and John Townsend
When a child hits a child, we call it aggression.
When a child hits an adult, we call it hostility.
When an adult hits an adult, we call it assault.
When an adult hits a child, we call it discipline.
~ Haim G. Ginott
My life is but a weaving
between my God and me;
I do not choose the colors,
He worketh steadily.
Oft times He weaveth sorrow,
And I, in foolish pride,
Forget He sees the upper,
And I the under side.
Not 'til the loom is silent
and the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
and explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful
in the Weaver's skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
in the pattern He has planned.

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
~Rudyard Kipling

I know there are a lot of religions out there that beat women down and don't give them the proper respect, but in my religion I have found that they only teach that men and women are equal partners and can't be saved without eachother... As the Bible teaches.
1 Cor. 11: 11
Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. (more) -

I don't... actually the only time I fell asleep in church was when I was pregnant a recently post partum and sleep deprived... and my church meetings are 3 hours long.
Why is it so hard to talk about God,but so easy to talk about sex?
It is easy for me to talk about both, but I understand your issue. Many people are ashamed to talk about something they don't want people to argue with them about.
Why are we so bored when we look at a Christian magazine,but find it easy to read Playboy?
I honestly have never seen a Playboy magazine... I don't look at porn. But I can't wait for my monthly issue of the Ensign! It is my church's magazine. I read the whole thing in one day and then go back through it several times before the next issue comes out...
Why is it so easy to ignore a Godly myspace message,Yet we repost the nasty ones?
I don't use MySpace...
Why are churches getting smaller,But bars and clubs are growing?
I don't know... that is a good question... but my answer would be that we are in the Latter Days, Satan's power is expanding and we will literally experience Hell on Earth before Christ's second coming... (more) -

Although some churches take an active interest in political issues and present their opinions to their congregations, it is WRONG for the POTUS to promote his own political agenda by swaying the religious leaders of churches...
Obama was using a religious holiday to bolster his request to have rabbis share stories in their congregations that support the currently proposed health care reforms. Not open discussion. One sided sermons aimed at using stories of uninsured people to bolster the President's position. That is called propaganda a la religion.
Further, there is a distinct difference in a church coming out on its own with its beliefs about black and white moral issues (homosexual marriage, yes or no) and the *President of the United States* asking religious leaders to present material that supports *his* position on how to reform a major economic and social issue (not just moral). There are certainly more ways to solve this problem (and there is a problem) than current proposed reform or doing nothing. (more) -

At face value it does seem hypocritical to withhold lifesaving treatment for a loved one but use one for yourself. Gandhi wasn't against medicine or treatment, he was against modern technology.
Quinine is a natural remedy akin to taking aspirin, which comes from the bark of the willow tree... Quinine comes from the bark of the cinchona tree.
Penicillin, on the other hand, is derived from a fungus that is grown in a lab specifically for the production of the drug. It doesn't occur naturally. It comes from a fungus that has been mutated.
I am not saying that he should not have given his wife the penicillin, I think he should have, but it isn't my choice to make a judgment about his personal faith, which allowed natural remedies, but not man made ones. (more) -

I don't see what the big deal is... all animal milk comes from a breast of some animal, humans are no different. If you drink cows milk it comes from a cows breast, if you eat feta cheese it was made from the breast milk of a sheep or goat! The only difference is that this milk came from a human.
If it was pasteurized it would be no different than going to the store and buying a hunk of cheddar! If not, then I would think that there would be health and safety issues as with any raw milk. Also, they should only accept donations from women who's milk they can verify hasn't been altered my chemical abuse or medication. But then even animals that are raised for their milk are given antibiotics and growth hormones.... (more)
