Women in Afghanistan Protest Marriage Law: Do You Support Their Cause?

Valentine April 15, 2009 20:04:19

A handful of women protested in front of a mosque in Kabul after a marriage law passed forcing Shiite women to have sex with their husbands and ask permission before leaving the house. Separated by a line of female police officers, a huge crowd gathered to condemn the protesters and even began throwing rocks at them. Do you support the Shiite women who are against a new marriage law?
Yes, no woman deserves to be treated unfairly
No, I don't care what happens in the middle east
I think the new Shiite marriage law...
You!

I think the new Shiite marriage law...

Presents a problem that nobody understands. While I may not agree with the teachings of Shiite clerics, I realize that some people do. While those women deserve rights, if the West tramples on the culture of people we disagree with, we will only be creating enemies.

To Muslims, May the Truth Set You Free

Islam is a caustic blend of regurgitated paganism and twisted Bible stories. Muhammad, its lone prophet, conceived his religion solely to satiate his lust for power, sex, and money. He was a terrorist. And if you think these conclusions are shocking, wait until you see the evidence.

All that can be known about Muhammad's deeds, means, motives, god, and scripture is enshrined in these books. In their pages you will see them as they saw themselves.

The last time the world was ignorant of such a hateful and violent doctrine, 55 million people died. If we don't shed our ignorance of Islam, many more will perish.

My quest to understand Islam began on the morning of September 11th 2001. I wanted to know why Muslim militants were killing us.

When members of al-Qaeda, Islamic Jihad, al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, and Hamas were asked why they were killing us. They said, "Islam. We are following Muhammad's orders."

I want you to know Muhammad, Allah, and Islam before you judge their legacy.

One last thought before you head down this perilous path. I pray that when you have reached the journey's end, you will share my heart for the plight of Muslims. I want nothing more than to free them from Islam, and in so doing, free us from the terror their doctrine inspires.

I think the new Shiite marriage law...

It is what is called bid'a, or innovation, and is not allowed.
Shi'a is a minority sect (the word actually means party), and a very very conservative one- mixed intractably with social and cultural traditions.
Of course the women should be supported-

Yes, no woman deserves to be treated unfairly

It's sad that women still have to fight for basic rights in some parts of the world.

I think the new Shiite marriage law...

Is the least of our problems. From what I hear, they're probably safer indoors than out, anyway.

I think the new Shiite marriage law...

....sucks like most of their traditions and laws. I read where two 20-year-olds in Afghanistan were executed in front of a mosque because they would not marry the people they were supposed to marry. They ran off to Iran, but were turned back. They were tried in the mosque and immediately taken out to the front of the mosque and were shot in public. .......just because they were in love.
