As an ex-graphic designer, I would say Butterfly considering your mission statement. It says it all! The cocoon, where a girl would take time aside to look inward and see what beauty lies with-in her. Then to burst out and flourish and fly away!

u know, Butterflies symbolize the Souls!
which seems to be very nice to be included in the GBD Logo.
But as a painting itself, I would prefer smt else that still flies.
e.g. a beautiful Bird with big and open wings! Symbol of Protection and, at the same time, Freedom!

I prefer the logo with the butterfly. It just add that little something extra and special. And, you can look at it as a symbol.
