purpose is for me is living after trying to kill myself. It is trying to live the best I can with my mental illness. It is loving my family and friends. It is having love and faith in God and Christ. Many things.....and then there is my poetry, which really makes me happy.

Motive

I was thinking

A Lot

I think a lot

Too much

To the point of distraction

Because I don't have enough friends

And we could all use friends

But a good poem is enough

To get me by

My Dreamscape passes through me

And sometimes I am calm

To chase The Day

Free of Desire

Seeking Truth

Finding My Heart

I don't think that someone's purpose for being here is as simple as what they've accomplished while they were here. I think it's very ambiguous...

a purpose is what you do if thats what you believe i dont however believe a purpose is set in stone

example:a mechanics purpose is to fix stuff however if they quit and become an accountant the there purpose becomes accounting

This is personal to everyone and changes all the time, I think. But I do have two constant purposes.

I try to make every life I enter better. In one way or the other. I really do try.

And I try to make it though each day without a drink.

It's a major reason for being.
It adds hope, reason, activity, and a feeling of accomplishment when purposes are completed.. in your own mind, anyway.
Not everyone's purposes are the same.
Clashing purposes lead to wars; but, one positive thing from a war is that more people tend to have a common purpose.

Purpose is made by your consciousness and subconsciousness mind which happens within your active and non-active states. It is the summary of yourself participating into the great vastness of life in the world. Some purpose are smaller than others but in the end everything is a network that support to each other as a whole. that's purpose to me.

i feel like this isn't what i really want to answer, but it's the closest to it, i guess.

i guess i take issue with the word "accomplish" really. what you accomplish is merely the process of reaching your goal. it's not the 'purpose' itself, instead it is the means to the purpose.

What is 'purpose'?... "Why am I here"? Allison, Our purpose is to have children, simple biology. It is our unique ability to conceptualize that confuses the issue. A Life can follow many paths, educational, creative, fun, hedonistic, destructive etc. and be seen as purposeful and/or rewarding. But will that be enough, on our deathbed, when we look back at the ~75 year window in time that our life filled. Was it just 75 years of me time. Why was I here. What do I leave behind. Was it all for nothing. What fills this psychological need?.... Leaving a child to continue in your place. A bookend for your life just as you will be for your parents. This is something we knew (though not explicitly) as a society but seem to have lost sight of. You can have a wonderful life and die quite satisfied.... but will be more satisfied if you had children. What trace of me is left when I die. Steve
