What do you picture when you hear the name Jesus Christ?

Whether you believe in him or not when someone mentions Jesus Christ, many people think of him either as a baby or as a suffering man about to die. Their concept of Jesus involves only his birth and his death. The marvelous things he said and did during his lifetime often go unnoticed. What he accomplished affects every person who has ever lived on this earth. Do you think that the world would be a better place if people lived by his saying? Just one of them, “All things, therefore, that YOU want men to do to YOU, YOU also must likewise do to them; this, in fact, is what the Law and the Prophets mean
You!

Good question. Since I don't believe Jesus was anything more than a smart, rebellious Jew, I tend to think of his teachings. If all followed the Golden rule, things would be a hell of a lot better.

No, to embrace just one teaching of Christ is watering down the full counsel of the Gospel of Christ. Not until people come to the full knowledge of what Christ did for the world will there be a better world. His life, death on the Cross and His resurrection, must be fully understood, anything less is a pollution of Christ's full nature!

When we treat others in the way that Jesus specified, we are acting in harmony with the spirit behind “the Law”—the writings that make up the Bible books of Genesis through Deuteronomy

Paul gave a definite negative answer to this question. "For no human being will be justified in his sight by works of the law, since through the law comes the knowledge of sin" (Rom. 2:20). "By works of the law shall no one be justified" (Gal. 2:16). "I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose" (Gal. 2:21). "Now it is evident that no man is justified before God by the law" (Gal. 3:11).

The law had a weakness: it could bring death, but not life. It made nothing perfect (Heb 7:18f). It promised life but proved to be death (Rom 7:10) because a person was required to keep all the law or be cursed (Gal. 3:10f), and none could keep it all. So all had the sentence of death.

The world would be a much different place if all lived by the Golden Rule.

When I think of Jesus I think of the resurrected Christ.
