Question Religion

The rut of rote worship and of the religion by the letter of the law. What have we learned about worship in todays churches?

Worship Basic 101 November 03, 2009 18:57:09

Many Christians and Church congregations have abandoned the dynamic power of True Spirit-led praise, worship, and the sacrific of their lips to God. They have fallen into the rut of rote worship and of religion by the letter of the law, when God really wants them to worship the Father in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). We ought to know better, but too many of us don't act like it.

True acceptable worship matters to God

I think that worship does matter to God. but there is more than one way of praising and worshiping God. We were created to give glory to God by using the gifts He gave us to do His works in the world. There are parts of the Bible that we, as christians, have adopted as customary parts of acceptable worship services, and some are only accepted by denominations. But to truly worship God you must praise and worship Him with your whole heart, mind, spirit, and body, whether you use accepted traditions or not.

What's the difference between monotone, boring, same-old magic spells, and loud, jump up and down magic spells? They're both just magic spells.

True acceptable worship matters to God

I've learned over the years that it's all about the money and that is a sad commentary, possibly leading to a decline in religion that will never be overcome. It doesn't help that so many Christians are judgemental instead of tolerant of other lifestyles, either.

True acceptable worship matters to God

I think the Bible calls such people "lukewarm" at best. Worship, like many prayers merely bounces off the ceiling and never reaches God. Worship that is derived from the flesh, or one might say "conjured up" by the flesh and our mind, is not acceptable to God. As the author of the poll stated worship must be in truth and in spirit.

We must truly believe God is who He says He is...truth.
We must be filled with the Holy Spirit and walking in that Spirit allowing Him to direct our worship or it is of no use to us or God.

When the Holy Spirit wants to praise God we get an overwhelming urge, even a need to burst out in song, in praise, in speaking His Word. It is hard to describe when worship is in the Spirit but you will know when it is and when you are just going through the motions because everyone else is doing the same.

One thing I have found is that when I worship in the Spirit and in truth my arms don't get tired of being lifted up to Heaven. My feet or my back don't hurt from standing. Tears and laughter often come and peace and joy flood the soul. There's nothing like true worship of God.
