I was recruited by Mormons today.

Just walking through campus, between the music building and my dorm, and a couple of guys in suits and ties pick me out of the crowd, wishing to talk to me about the Book of Mormon, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. (that's what it's called right? that's a lot to remember.

I'm not too familiar with the specifics of the Mormon faith (I should be more, but I'm not) so I remained perceptive to what they had to say, and accepted a little pamphlet they gave me. They seemed like alright guys to me. I'll look into it to broaden my horizons, 'cause I like doing that.

I told my roommate about it, and all he had to say was "[insert guttural noise here], Mormons are crazy."

Any thoughts on the subject? Sadly, I've never stumbled across a Mormon on this site. Do they exist here?
You!

Well, you get the magic underpants and extra wives, so that's kind of a wash. I don't know why anyone would want extra wives but the magic underpants? Whoa - maybe they can make you fly and repel bullets to the crotch?

Seriously, though, it's another religion that makes zero sense when you dig into it a little. Another one of those, "An angel gave me golden scrolls and had me destroy them after I read them. Trust me, though, I'm tellin' the truth here."

Watch this vid from South Park. It is really quite accurate, believe it or not.

Yes, Mormans are on this site. I am not one; I am Christian. That is where the problems begin. - Understand that the majority of Mormons are Very nice, socially exemplary people. Their scriptures are not divinely provided and are subject to on-going, current day interpretation that has their church's authority behind it. In short Mormonism is a cult. - There are Not Enough Hours in the day Seth so, from a genuine Christian to you, here are a few good resources: 'The Kingdom of the Cults' - W. Martin, 'Mormonism - Shadow or Reality?' - J & S Tanner, 'Beyond Mormonism' - JR Spencer. There are Many others... God bless Seth. Use me as an email resorce if you want. Jesus loves you. He matters too.

To be fair, there are many Christian "cults" too...a theology professor would be an unbiased source to approach for straightforward information and a historical background.

You are getting the distorted truth of the Christian belief. That why I say "I'm sorry."

That's what makes it the Mormon belief, which differs from that of the traditional Christian belief.

Did you research the Mormon belief before you got involved?

When it comes to religion, you must be well informed, and not just let someone tell you this is the way it is. Study and learn = knowledge.

The Mormons sometimes knock on my door. I'm too nice to slam the door in their face... I listen to them talk for a few minutes and then they hand me a business card with Jesus on it.

Nearly every religion claims to be the true, correct religion...

Yeah, that's probably the easiest way to promote your religion, is to claim it is the "correct" religion. That's why I don't settle with one; I'd like to know them all as well as possible, see what's the same and what's different about them. In the end, let the so-called deity see what he thinks of it.

Talk to Dave Sawyer about it if he's still on here. He's a Mormon and a great guy. While I am not a Mormon nor do I promote it, some of their doctrines are quite philosophical, and I would caution against listening too seriously to those who belittle that which they are ignorant of... which, as I glance down at some of the answers... oh boy. LOL

Check it out, man. Do some research. It always good to learn more about other faiths.

I do believe I have conversed with a man by the name of Dave Sawyer on here, a long time ago. I haven't seen any posts by him in a while, so who knows...?

Yeah, I know what you mean though.
