Religious rats will likely reproduce more often than secular rats. And secular rats will murder and kill other rats through war more than religious rats.

So, really, you should hope for secular rats instead of religious rats.

I know you insist on mocking religion, but the facts, particularly those in the 20th and 21st century, defend religion.
What do Hitler, Mao and Stalin have in common? Secular nationalism
21st century defend religion hitler mao stalin common secular nationalism

I realize this is meant to mock Christianity, but I submit to you this: first the Muslims have attacked us - Remember 9/11? And second: God will not be mocked!
And second, for Christians who think they are so smug in their beliefs - we have strayed far from Christ.

Here are two pieces of chilling scripture I thought noteworthy of mentioning. There is a God in heaven who is alive and active, and he will not be mocked; he will accomplish his purpose.

    Isaiah 46: 9-11
I will start with 8: Remember this, fix it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels.
    9. Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.
From the east I summon a bird of prey; from afar-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do.

And Amos 8: 11-12 “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land – not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. Men will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the Lord, but they will not find it.”

Brilliant satire. Let's see how many are offended by a humorous depiction of what's actually going on.

Yes, catagorizing individuals based on one single solitary trait then dehumanizing them is absolutely hilarious. There are many events in history, the holocaust, various apartheids, ethinic "cleansings" that began with the same mind set. You must find the history books side splitting.

If of course your gray matter is unable to see any similarities between a "humerous" video like this and some of those tendencies then I recommend that you not drive or operate heavy machinery. You could be deadly just behind the wheel.

You're right. Your Captain is but filth dragged inside by unclean beasts. Of course, you failed to mention the accomplishments of Christian missionaries ruining cultures, the "Holy" Crusades, the "holy" Inquisition...... ALL organized religions are responsible for a huge amount of suffering on this planet. All for the greater glory of God. None more than Christianity.

Naturally, you choose to insult me. Just as Jesus would have done, right? Shame on you!

I don't deny for a second, nor have I ever that numerous atrocities have been committed by various religions throughout history. I imagine that there were many amoung the perpetrators that thought what they were doing was hilarious as well. I think you know however that just like love, all individuals are capable of hateful and destructive behavior even if they are non-believers. Are you saying that Christians should look the other way when we see the same mentality used against them simply because of the previous suffering caused by generations before them?

I didn't insult you. Not if you can see the similarities, which I'm sure you can.
  • Captain... Joleen November 04, 2009 01:49:53
    Captain Sticky
No. I'm saying that all people should be horrified when atrocities are committed against any one. It disgusts me when people run to defend only those considered to be "their own" when we're all one species. I'm saying that Christians are in no position to throw stones. There is no "chosen people". No group is any better than any other in God's eyes. Except, of course, for the French.

As for insults, perhaps it's not my grey matter in question here. Aren't the opinions of others valid?

In your first paragraph there you and I are in complete agreement. I'm not in a position to "throw stones" but truly, is anyone? Does anyone have the right to dispense hatred for others, even if people have done it before?

Of course other opinions are valid. However, when they support invalidating other humans as pesty rats in need of elimination and find nothing but humor in it, should they not be questioned?

Oh I know it's easy to write it off as satire but it's hardly safe to. Did you catch the title of the video. Creedocide? The "cide" words (edited to add: homocide, genocide, suicide) don't usually represent funny, cute and fluffy things. That may be due to the fact that the suffix "cide" means "to kill or cause death." There's so much wrong with that video and if it were about atheists or pagans, or any other group of individuals, believe me, I would feel the EXACT same way.

Double standards are really a fascinating practice don't you think? Your repetitive "beef" with religion is that it fosters violence and agression towards others. Yet your conscience so effortlessly allows you to administer the exact same propaganda towards the religious.

My guess would be that you have silenced whatever inner voice might still be at conflict with your integrity (at least I pray you still have one) by sufficiently blanketing everyone under the religious umbrella with a "one size fits all" mentality. You no longer have to consider them human. They're monsters, right? Undesirables. Troublemakers. Rats.

Or you could have foolishly convinced yourself that such mockery is completely harmless. Some mockery is. Some can even be funny to the religious. Comparing all religious individuals regardless of their individual personality traits and behavior to rats and providing imagary that dehumanizes them is quite simply bigotry. There are many people still out there who are hungry for the fuel to hate. (Need I mention again the historical figures already discussed in this thread) Only an idiot would conclude that there isn't.

So if your goal is to debase an entire subset of humanity simply because they believe something other then you then Bravo! You have been successful. If that was not your intent then that leaves only one other alternative which is mentioned in the last statement in the paragraph above.

Thank you for explaining that but I can't help but find that hard to believe. You can't possibly presume that using humiliation and degradation would be an effective way to induce reflection on one's own belief systems. Even if you did, I'm quite confident is that all you will truly accomplish is further hostility and the only thoughts this video will generate won't be for the purposes of "self reflection."

If that is truly your goal I suggest that you reexamine your methods of influencing people and construct some tools that might actually have a shot at achieving it.

Get a sense of humor. Two tribes destroying each other for their imaginary celestial being is hilariously ridiculous.
How can so many adults be so irrational when it comes to supernatural and superstitions. Blows my mind.
