I will answer your question with a question:

When Jesus comes in power and glory, with the armies of heaven, who will he FIGHT?

For the grand prize, who is credited with saying these words?

"I come not to bring peace, but a sword."

Jesus said that but he still doesn't use guns. Most mythical folks prefer thunderbolts.

Lola and Cronewinter - two women after my own heart!

Thats why I want to post my comment below both of yours:

Religion is dangerous because it allows human beings who don’t have all the answers to think that they do. Most people would think it’s wonderful when someone says, ‘I’m willing Lord, I’ll do whatever you want me to do.’ Except that since there are no gods actually talking to us, that void is filled in by people with their own corruptions and limitations and agendas.

You show your lack of understanding here, Tini. Not only is there a God, but He does speak and give us insights. The fact that we don't all agree yet comes from the attitude that some Christians share with you--they think that God has finished with His works and has no more to do with mankind. They are what we would call deists, not real Christians. Some argue over whether to have music in their church or not. Others don't believe their own Bibles when it tells how baptisms are to be done. Some don't even believe you need authority to act in the name of God. We call this petty bickering and infighting. We call it jealousies, rivalries and bigotries.

One should never assume that because the children have a spat now and then that it is irrefutable proof of the absence of parents. God does exist. I have proven it beyond doubt and you can, too. The question is this: are you WILLING to or would it then commit you to a change you are unwilling to make?

Are you hearing voices and calling others sociopaths?
  • steven punk June 09, 2009 23:30:46

Are you lacking a dictionary? A psychotic and a sociopath are quite different things. Were I the sociopath you seem to infer me to be, I would track you down and remove you like a dog. However, being a humanitarian and an altruist, I deign to let you live, whether deservedly or not. And next time, perhaps you could offer something of import in your commentary.

Again with the reversion. Profanity and ad hominum attack--the last resort of the intellectually defeated.

I just figured calling someone a douchebag was less personal than calling them a sociopath!

Keep figuring. You'll get the right answer sooner or later.

atheism proves nothing, least of which that atheists have answers for anything. it does breed a selfish, hedonistic, and abusive lifestyle that creates a societal mess. atheists don't believe there are any consequences to their actions and can do whatever they please without regard to the mess they leave behind. what is their answer for anything?

They believe that Man is the ultimate authority (if there is any) and that man only answers to man.

Ah, that's right. Hitler was an atheist. Something to aspire to! And now we have our fraud-in-chief, Obama, who wants us to answer to him. Men are corrupt and selfish creatures. I'd rather answer to a benevolent God than a corrupt and power-hungry politician any day.

God is more of a constant, too. Men come and go. Why answer to a fallible man who will eventually die or be put out of power and be replaced by someone else with different rules? What's so wrong with following God's rules? (Don't steal, don't kill each other, sleep with your own wife and not someone else's, etc.)

A Christian God is not an oppressive God. This country was founded by people who followed His principles. They wrote how we are all "created equal with...rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." How many men honor thoughts of equality for men? Hitler killed millions because they were inferior to his Aryan race. The Communists kill millions of their own people for disagreeing with their rules. Men created slavery. Historically women had no rights (to property, to vote, etc.) and had to fight for it. In some countries women have no rights and are treated like property. Men created different class systems for people to live under, with different rules for different people. Men breed jealousy, contempt, war, corruption, etc. That is what following men gets you.

What noble things has atheism done for anyone?
