Question Religion

Do you think the bible is the exact word of God or have people changed parts of it during history?

Do you think the Bible copy we owe is the ORIGINAL one or is it, even slightly, manipulated?

It is the original one, the bible we got is the same as the bible 2,000 years ago

The Bible was finished in 96 A.D. and I believe that everything has remained the same and translated to English the best way. I believe is is the Word of God.

    None of the above

God is the Author of Scripture, and He wrote through human authors, not as dictation machines, but they were truly authors in that their perspective, language, education and culture come through in what they write. Yes, some of the books of the Old Testament show evidence in the text of being edited, but this is all directed by the supreme Author, God. The amazing thing about the Bible is that it was written by over 40 different authors in three different languages over a span of over 1,000 years, and it has one unified message pointing to and fully revealing God's plan of redemption in Jesus Christ. If the Bible were merely written by men, there's no way it could possess such unity of thought and fulfilled prophecies.

I think it is very likely that someone might have changed parts of it

The Bible has indeed been changed over time. Compare the different versions that are used by different religions today. you cannot believe the bible word for word, But you can indeed believe it for the spirit of the word.

It has been altered various times and many verses have been changed, this isn't even something that should be asked as if it's an opinion when it is historical fact.

It is not very likely, it is 100% likely. There is no way that the bible has not been edited. Simply no way.

My God is all knowing and all powerful. He is also all loving merciful and forgiving. That being said means that nothing is impossible for Him. Including being able to preserve His Word from getting distorted. And I'm sure there are those that have changed His Word but at the same time the original manuscripts have been preserved as well. And only true believers filled with the Holy Spirit are those who are able to distinguish the True Word Of God. God will not allow His children to be misled or deceived.

Is it possible for Jerry Falwell to make it to Heaven? The bible says it is harder for a rich man to enter heaven than for a camel to go thru the eye of the needle. We do INDEED know that old Jerry was very rich and also a glutton. So according to the Bible, if we take it at its word by reading literally, Old Jerry is roasting like a chesnut over an open flame right? And I do indeed know the real answer.

Well, Jeff. God looks on the heart of everyone who receives Him, and those who don't. He says, He knows His sheep. He also says, He is the righteous judge not man. We all sin Jeff, if you will read 1 John 1:8-10, you will see that Jesus Blood sacrifice never stops forgiving and cleansing us. - we must receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Your sin in this case is to set yourself up as judge. Jerry Falwell is in God's hands not yours. AND YOU are in His hands and no one else's. He has paid the price for you, all you have to do is repent and receive the free gift of salvation.

It is the original one, the bible we got is the same as the bible 2,000 years ago

It is the same with the exception of making it more readable with the change in language. When I read the King James I can hardly understand it. However, if I compare verses in the NIV to the King James, or the Jerusalum Bible with the King James, the context is the same, just easier to read and understand. In fact, I can understand the King James now a lot better with the other bibles to compare. We don't even speak the same English today that our forefathers spoke when they founded this country!

And if you believe it HAS been changed, then follow archeology, they are still to this day finding evidence that proves what the bible says. Sure, there are certain books that have been left out of the bible, but even those books are available for reading. The apocrypha is one, or The Lost Books of the Bible. You can even read translated salvaged portions of the Dead Sea Scrolls if you want. There are a lot of original documents which have been found that have never been touched in any way. Read, investigate--all it takes is time.

"Jhn 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. " Jesus is not a bible. God is not a koran. The creator is not a torah. It might help you to see all of this if you ever read the bible or the other mentioned "holy books".

Songs is about a slave owned and used for sex by her owner. The bible cannot ever be the Word because God is good. God created evil but he is not evil. The bible contains the evil men do such as throwing a child to a sex craved horde of men bent on rape of a certain male vistitor. Thus , the bible is never God but it may contain information about what little God said .

A.T. Robertson robertson , who's a great scholar, said this, and I quote, "There are some 8,000 manuscripts of the Latin, and at least 1,000 for the other early versions. Add to that 4,000 Greek manuscripts, and we have 13,000 manuscript copies of the New Testament. And all 13,000 essentially agree." That's exciting. God has preserved it. This shows the pure preservation of Scripture. Thirteen thousand manuscripts written in different periods, different origins, from all different areas and by all different men in all different periods of time, agree.

I believe that as the Bible has been translated different people have altered it to fit their beliefs. The Bible is not in its original form. though multiple translations the Bible has lost value.

We have the Bryzantine texts and the Alexandrian texts which go back to the canonization. Especialy the Bryzantine text The NIV leaves out over 6000 passages on purpose and changes many words so they do not portray the original meaning.

yeap, i'll give you many reasons why I believe so. No man on this earth would have written love thy neighbor as thyself, love those who despise you and the two big`EEs are, thy shall not commit adultery or fornication, no man on this earth would have written that. Most importantly all that is written within is perfect, so you gotta ask yourself one question, what man on this earth can you say is perfect? case close...

Because the entire Bible has been alive and active throughout the centuries, and continues to be today, no one has dared to change it. The fact that the Bible continues to change thousands of lives around the world in positive, tangible ways displays another clear proof of its inspiration by the Holy Spirit. God's inspired Word is the same today as it was in the time of the Old Testament prophets and in the time of the New Testament apostles. The Bible is therefore our final authority, and we accept its teachings, commands, and promises as they relate to all of life.

apostles bible final authority accept teachings commands promises relate life

I think it is very likely that someone might have changed parts of it

Since it has been fairly widely documented that sections of it have been edited out during both the 5th and 14th century for political reasons-- and since it has been transcribed by MAN (a fallable being who DOES make mistakes), it's fairly safe to say that people have changed it throughout its history.
