- A federal appeals court has ruled that a Ten Commandments monument outside Oklahoma's Haskell County Courthouse "has the primary effect of endorsing religion."
A three-judge panel of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sent the case back to federal Judge Ronald White so he could issue a new ruling consistent with theirs. White previously rejected arguments that the monument promotes Christianity at the expense of other religions.
The latest ruling prompted Haskell County Commissioner Mitch Worsham to say, "Whoever was the judge in this, I feel sorry for him on Judgment Day."... Read full article »

Endorsing religion may be frowned upon, but not illegalView thread
The country was founded on Christian values. The ten commandments are guiding principles, that are fairly common in intent to non Christian faiths as well.
If someone had a passage from the Koran or another religious text, would anyone make a big deal about it? I think not.
Christians will not be silenced by anyone, especially the courts or OUR elected officials, whose constitutional law was founded on Christian values.
This country is going to heck in a handcart, caused by insighters who want to bring this country down further than it already is.
Court got it wrong!
Dumb, Dumb and Dumbber! Ask these assholes whats stamped on our paper money and on our coins. Bye: Adam Troy
I don't think any question exists that our public government already has symbols endorsing Judeo-Christian values -- and did so at the writing of the US Constitution. Our Declaration of Independence says, "...all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator..."
The reference here seems equally endorsing of Judeo-Christian values than the Ten Commandments, which serves as the basis for the two major religions -- historically starting with the Jews, then Christians -- and a commonality with another major religion, Islam.
While I think it endorse certain values, it does not endorse any single religion. If it endorsed any religion, it would endorse Judaism because the first commandment says, "I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me..." which refers directly to the Jewish people.
If there is a seperation between church and state.
.
how can they ( the appeals court )
even have a say so without violating that law?
them having an opinion and ruling is against the law. !
the ten commandments dosent endorse religion it,s a piece and part of the bible contents.
And no one endorses religion. people read or follow or not whatever path in life they choose. is that against the law too ?
what are we just there lil babies that they tell us what to do?
And here,s another way they violate the seperation from church and state , everytime someone gets called to the witness stand they say to them .
do you SWEAR to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you GOD !
Sorry this is also a violation of church and state. ! ! !
AS THE CHAPTER OF JAMES IN THE HOLLY BIBLE STATES. = ABOVE ALL things my brethren SWEAR NOT neither, , by heaven, nor earth, NOR ANY OTHER OATH !
but let your nay be nay and your yay be yay.,
it,s for the judge and jury to decide if he,s telling the truth ,otherwise just let everyone go home after he lie,s to you.
no wonder we cant get nothing done there concentrating on bullshit all the time.
Whats next,... change our money because it has religious references? I used to live on "Church" street, does that name have to change too?
We have memorials to those who served and fallen soldiers all over this country, do they mean we endorse WAR as the answer to everything?
