My youngest is now 15 years old. When he was young enough to celebrate it the traditional way, we still didn't.
I found harvest parties to be safer and a more enjoyable venue for my children.
The one I would take them to, was at a ranch, where we were served hot dogs, chips, and soda. We also had pony rides, horse or tractor drawn hayrides, inflatables, rock climbing walls, etc.
It appealed to all ages, not just those under 14 years old.

All of my Christian neighbors wont have halloween parties, wont let their kids trick or treat and wont let them dress up. They have fall harvest get togethers at church instead with just games and candy. So I was wondering if there are Christians out there that celebrate it the traditional way with dressing up in costumes, trick or treating, decorating their house and having halloween parties.

We take control over Evils that day, by making fun of it...simple.

A Short History....
"All Saints Day traces its beginnings to the latter part of the third century AD. It was originally known as All Martyrs Day to honour those who had died for their Christian faith, but it was later extended to include all the faithful departed. At first All Saints Day was celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost. Though the Eastern Orthodox Church continues to observe it on this date, the Western (Catholic and Protestant) denominations moved it to the first of November. The term “saint” should be explained in more detail. Strictly speaking, the “saints” refer to all baptized members of the Church, living or dead.
All Saints Day coincides with Halloween (literally a contraction of “All Hallows Evening,” the evening before All Saints, “hallow” being an Old English word meaning “holy”). Halloween is somewhat controversial from a Christian perspective. Some Christians consider it merely a secular holiday to be enjoyed by children and adults who want to dress up for the occasion.

All Saints Day hasn’t been contaminated by the commercialism that has affected Christmas and Easter (holidays that I nonetheless love for their religious significance and emphasis on family). All Saints Day connects all the saints, of today and yesterday. Therefore it deserves to be celebrated.'

Now, Trick or treat is just a fun way for the kids to rob from their neighbors!
Nothing wrong with it.

I will however teach them the true meaning of Christmas, but see no reason to explain Halloween. They'll find out later on when they've outgrown it.

1. Play dress up [adults too] and possibly have a prize for each catagory.
Bible character; or doctors, ballarina, prince and princess.
Or as all Saints Day [Nov. 1] Many alternatives for ghost and witches.
>>>>Play games; bob for the apple; hand out treats can include the gospel message
>>>>3. Provides a safe and fun enviornment
2. Have Trunk or Treats.
>>>Line up cars in the Church parking lot with trunks filled with candy.
>>>This can be done in neighborhoods as well.
>>>Possible wear Biblical costumes.
>>>Hand out tracks.
>>>Another safe alternative.
3. Carve pumpkins with Christian symbols.

In fact, the Puritans and other groups who wanted to restore Christianity to it's roots suffered greatly because they stripped Christianity of it's western element making them as foreign to mainstream Christian thinking as Islam and Judaism. What makes Christianity work is that it absorbs other faiths and beliefs and those who try to purify it or strip it of these elements tend to leave such a bland lifeless faith as to be depressing and meaningless to would be adherents. What makes Christianity work is that it absorbs other faiths and beliefs and those who try to purify it or strip it of these elements tend to leave such a bland lifeless faith as to be depressing and meaningless to would be adherents. As has been said many times, if this is what Heaven as to offer me for all eternity, death is a blessing and Hell a reward. groups like the Jehovahs witnesses carry on some of those traditions most Christians resist and resent. I am an Agnostic Christian but if what these people represent is what Heaven has to offer... I would prefer something else. Halloween is just a fun time to exorcise your demons and for one day of the year just let yourself go having a little fun with the darker side of life.
To be brutally honest, with all the false prophets and sin in the churches of all faiths today... the real question might be better asked if the devil can still appear as an angel of light and speak the word of God, maybe we have been worshiping the wrong God as the devil is God of this world and all worldly things which preachers, priests and men of religion covet most.
So go out, get some candy and have some fun... if there is a God in Heaven, he won't fault you for that if he knows your heart is pure and that for most of the year you are living a good life. Only a wicked person would think otherwise and let's face it, they won't fault a priest for having mansions and cheating on their wives with prostitutes but will get angry about kids dressed as ghosts or cowboys... I think they have their priorities mixed up and they're the ones damned to hell rather than the rest of us.
