Is it fair to criticize Michelle Obama?
U.S. Democratic presidential front-runner Barack Obama says that Republicans should direct their attacks at him and not his wife Michelle. Is it right to criticize her after her "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm proud of my country," comment?-

We have free speech as has been pointed out to me several times by the Liberals so if they can make an opiniion about Bush, Clinton, Reagan, and other First Ladies then why would Michelle Obama be any different? I would like to add this to start ripping her apart for the the way she is a Mother and and her personal life is not acceptable as it is not for Palin, Hillary or others. But to have a disagreement or a view on her words or politics that will affect us is a different altogther to me. -

Just because people don't like Barack doesn't mean they have to critsize Michelle. I mean she didn't do anything. She was just married to himm and then he ran for president. So if you want to say she is also bad speak for yourself. Others don't have to listen to what you say. And I say don't blame her. -

Absolutely. He sent his dogs after Bill Clinton so he could play the race victim and destroy Bill Clinton's well deserved reputation with AAs; they had to take Bill out early and knew it. Then he kept silent when his embedded media dogs went after Chelsea. So if the angry, bitter shrew can't keep her mouth shut she is totally fair game. -

It goes with the career. She is married to a politcian. It's happened to all of the wives.....maybe it has to do with racism that she is criticized and McCains wife isn't...IDK
You want your hubby in the White House? Don't whine when people scrutinize and comment. You signed on for it. If you don't want to be misquoted....keep your comments private and stay away from the limelight.
Their kids should never be treated that way. Ever. -

It's absolutely fair to bash her. If she's going to make politically-driven speeches on her husband's behalf, then she's open season.
Every time anybody says anything bad about the Obamas, everybody lines up to act like it's racist...
Nobody complains when people talk smack about Hillary Clinton's husband...
If it's okay to criticize Bill Clinton, then why isn't it okay to criticize Michelle Obama? -

Yes, but not simply because of that comment.
Candidates spouses and family should be off limits unless they choose to step up and interject themselves into the campaign. The moment they choose do that, they become part of the process and are fair game for comments/criticism.
Obama wants to have it both ways - he wants to use her to campaign for him but then declare her off limits for criticism. It doesn't work like that, and a person who is running for the Presidency of the United States should be smart enough to understand something as basic as that. -

I find that all the Michelle-bashing reeks of racism. Compare the uproar over her comments--which were completely taken out of context--to the silence regarding Cindy McCain's felony charges (theft and forgery). There's a double standard here. Rich blonde millionaire private plane owners can do/say anthing they want, but God forbid a woman of color says a word. -

It's no different than when Bill Clinton says something stupid on behalf of Hillary. Is it racist to bash Bill Clinton? Noooooo....
So if it's okay to talk about Hillary's husband... why is it racist to talk about Barack's wife? -
