Racism is fading away! Do you agree?
What a great time we live in as we watch the human race come together as one.-

At least i hope so! I personally don't look at race, sex, or vehicle brand. I pick each one out individually, ups and downs, we all got them. I do recognize them, when i see a white guy i know they're white. when i see a girl i know they're female, when i see a silverado i know its a chevy. -

It has faded alot for 2008. However; we can still spot it in small conversations. It appears more in a person's mind without notice or accident. Racial comments for example about being african and use to heat? What? That came from a friend at the time and very racial. My environment is a contribution not by race. I was born in America and Cherokee Indian too, she would have mentioned both. All accidental or not intentional, i notice in conversations. Not as bold.. -

No way. Communities don't mingle very much outside of school, college and work. If we don't start getting together socially for say a trip to the zoo, a nice dinner, or a pop over, we won't end the racial divide.
One of the most racist, but conversely the most anti racist cities I've been to is London. There is violent racial hostility constantly perpetrated by the fringe groups, but at the same time there are dinner parties with 15 different ethnicities.
Racism will never truely be gone, for when things turn sour its human nature to find someone else to blame. Sadly. -

Mostly, but only in the Caucasians. You still have the Indians and Afro-Americans feeling that the Whites owe them something, ???, That was taken away from them. America would not be America without History
Its all History
Be Americans (all)
not ???? -
raves +2 -1 Jun 04, 2008 04:48PM GMTSome African Americans do feel as if white america owes them something.
But there is also something to be said for white guilt. Whites have benefited
as a result of enslaving brown people. The imagery of Jesus Christ as being white, also feeds into it. I am by no means a flag saluting patriot, I love this country despite its history. This country is still the best deal in town... so to my fellow African Americans I say "if you don't like get the eff out!" -
raves +1 Jun 04, 2008 03:34PM GMTYou know, come to think of it, I don't think I've every seen a black duck.
To be fair you must consider Zimbabwe. Not that they had reason to be magnanimous (and weren't), but that would not be a good place to head for either.
As for the USA I am sure that the red ducks would like to see the white ducks and the black ducks leave - don't you think? :) -

To some degree depending on what part of the country you live in. I think that in other parts of the country toleration plays a big part.
As far as history is concerned and the Africans and the slave trade to a degree there were more people/country’s involved in the trading of slaves. Yes they were brought here to the US but and over whelming majority were also brought to places like Brazil, Haiti and all over the Caribbean. But even though the whites such as Spanish, Dutch, English and so on were a part of that, it was also the Africans themselves who were involved. The more aggressive tribes prayed upon the more passive tribes. I.e.…the movie Armistad, and PBS.
But as I am doing my research on the whole thing, I am finding out that Africa has been into slavery long before the US even became a country and is still going on today. And long before the Europeans step foot on the continent.
Here is a link to the rest of the research that most of you should know. But would rather be ignorant.

Yes, we have come along way from the slavery and segregation. Although people are learning how to live together there will always be a select few who are too ignorant to listen and so they will always think they are superior to the likes of others. These people will teach their children and this will continue as the human population will too; we cannot stop it but merely slow it down. -

As long as the blacks consider themselves victums and seek advantages from whites (afirmative action) with a feeling of entitlement you will always be lothed by the whites. Blacks need to follow more responsable leaders such as Bill Cosby or Allen Keys and put the likes of Jessie Jackson, rev wright & moss,Al Sharpten,Farakon, black panthers on the skids. Perhaps a bit cheese to go with your whine is in order. Your gangsta rap culture is not helping. -
raves +1 Jun 02, 2008 07:25PM GMTJust another ignorant white person. First, learn how to spell correctly before you make derogatory comments. People of African descent were brought to this country without a choice, they were made to work for nothing. When the slaves were freed, they were promises made but never delivered upon by the white citizens of this country. Instead of spewing ignorance, please take some time to read and become more informed. Ignorance is not becoming, it's just annoying and shows a lack of class. White people think they have privileges based solely on being white. We only have to look at the democratic presidentail race to see evidence of this fact.
I am not going to engage in a back and forth exchange about this because most white people have none to very little knowledge of the history of this country, which is not taught in the American school system. -
raves +1 Jun 05, 2008 07:35PM GMTAs stated below, I have nothing against black people and I do think that the history of slavery is awful, but YOU did not go through that. Your ancestors did. MY family did not own slaves. My ancestors did.
I think your comment was also pretty damn racist. "White people think they have privileges based solely on being white." Bullshit. I'm not denying that the comment you're replying to was very racist, but YOUR statements are damn racist, too. I'm white, and I don't think I should have privileges based on the color of my skin. Don't generalize. THAT is ignorance. -
raves Jun 02, 2008 08:14PM GMTthat's a lie but if more blacks are rascist then they have a rite to be blacks were the ones brought to this country against their wheel and forced to work! So if blacks have a problem with whites they have an excuse and a very good one and what's white peoples excuse besides the fact that their the ones who have treated blacks wrong for hundreds of years!

I think it is in some parts of the world, while in others it is growing stronger.I know when I was growing up, the thought of race didn't enter my mind until I learned about WWII and discrimination. Each of my friends looked different from one another, the color of their skin was never an issue. It was a thought that never entered my mind until we learned about all the hate people inflicted onto eachother because of religious or race beliefs.
