Answered Shecter
Poll's missing ESP/LTD and Ibanez, which are definitely good brands of guitars.
Since my angle is metal, Schecter is my pick. I have a C-1+ prototype model that I had EMGs (81/89) put in, and it is definitely the best 6-string I own. It's a set neck, has a unique finish, and I upgraded the tuners to Sperzels. Also has a coil tap on the 89. Versitile, and very solid.
Schecters in general I have been very pleased with. They offer really good options standard on most of their guitars, industry-standard kinds of things such as TonePros bridges, EMG pickups, or the higher end Duncans such as the JB and '59. They are also all affordable. I also like their body shapes, the 006 is a nice strat variant, the Scorpion is a very cool double cut-away, and the Tempest is a nice Les Paul alternative.
Speaking of Schecters, they have the Stiletto model coming for '08 I hear, and that'll be neck-through with EMGs (81 and two single coils)and Floyd rose trems in the "classic" model. I will definitely be getting one. It's about time they offered neck-throughs though.
Answered Gibson
For 6 strings, I'll only play a Gibson or a Fender. As for bass, I've got a Cameo (it's an antique!), Dean, and Washburn 5 string. Not a bad one in the bunch, really.
