    Undecided

    Barack Obama. (Write-in)

I honestly had to look into it carefully after I made this poll, but I have made up my mind. Originally I was thinking I think I would either vote for Kat, or write in Barack Obama. While any of the candidates in this poll would have been acceptable to me up until recently, Hillary Clinton has lost my respect, and I am now bordering on siding with a vote directly against her given these choices on the ballot, but while I still have nothing against the other candidates, Barack Obama still has the most positive potential in my opinion... so he gets my vote, even if I'm the only one to vote for him here.

Anyway, I hope people like this poll.

Subtract the votes AGAINST each candidate from the votes FOR that same candidate to get the candidate's net vote count. The highest net vote count indicates who is leading. This is a single vote balanced plurality voting system. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

Although I am a Hillary Supporter I am going with write in and that gender doesn’t matter to me. I live in the state of MA and in the past seven yrs we have had the opportunity to vote for a women Gov. I did not find any of them to be worthy of being Gov. 2 were Republicans and one was Democrat.

Kate Swift: Thank goodness I watch that video, because I say no. My sense about her; it sounded like she was running for Senior Class president. I had read her bios but I can’t rely upon that, I also have to have a visual to get a better understanding of character.

Cynthia McKinney: Not after her little fiasco with the Security Guard in the US Capital in 2006. To make it brief she didn’t let him do his job which is screen everyone who came into the Capital. She felt she was above that, and proceeded to vilify him for it; which also says a lot about her character.

Hillary Clinton: Is a fighter, I know that most people have a different opinion but for someone to get up every morning and face what she has to face takes a lot of courage. I don’t want a quitter president, or someone who looks like a push over. Her resume is very impressive. Mary Ruwart: I watched the Libertarian convention on C-Span; and my impression is she is a push over. When her turn to speak during their debate; in her description of herself she said she wasn’t like Senator Clinton, that totally turn me off. To have to relate to another candidate to get your point across…well to me that makes you a weak candidate. The man next to her however said if they had Senator Clinton on the Libertarian party that would be a good thing.

And NO I am not voting for Obama!!!!

I take it that was intended as a write-in vote for Hillary Clinton. You actually didn't say directly, so please forgive me and feel free to correct me if I misunderstood.

About that idea of hiring her into a top position for a big company... I can understand how one could see her as having the potential to bring in a lot of money but, considering that she has lied on her application, I would personally rather have a lower risk and more trust worthy employee. That is I guess a difference in how people do things. Thanks for your vote and your feedback.

Yes, I feel the same way. Kat Swift would be my choice from this selection of candidates... but I agree. Not quite ready yet. Unfortunately, I have already seen some negative campaigning out of her. I hope she'll learn from Barack Obama and run again some day.

    Anyway... thanks. :)

This one's pretty negative, and terribly inaccurate...

calling Barack Obama "just another wolf in sheeps clothing like the rest of the media selected candidates you all think you are left with" and going on to say he'll "target muslims and arabs and continue unsustainable energy policies that will create further issues"

Don't know if you were misinformed or what, because it seemed very out-of-character for you... but that was you, right?

Well... when all of this is over (or before hand, if you wish) feel free to contact your representative in Congress or the Senate and say so. I would sure appreciate it the support for a fair and balanced voting system. You can even direct them to some of my polls if you like, to give them an idea of how it could work... and I would be happy to talk with them about it and help them to get it done right the first time.

Here are the results of this poll so far...

    Vote for Kat Swift

Playing along and assuming that any of these candidates could actually win the election, she would be my first choice. I'm often torn between voting for the candidate who comes closest to my own views, and the "viable" candidate who comes closest - or sometimes, is least objectionable. I don't wish to throw away my vote, so with the current election system we have, I will only vote for a "viable" candidate. I hope you will blog about this later, and include all the results from all of your various polls in your blog. Thank you for calling my attention to this one.

My screen name, by the way, comes from an insult that was hurled at me by a loyal Green, during a past election season, because I thought it more important to defeat Bush than to cast my vote for a Green. He called me "a chartreuse dog, the mongrel offspring of a yellow dog Democrat and a Green." I wish 80,000 voters in Florida had been chartreuse dogs, then the election would not have been close enough for them to steal it.
  • -1 raves [-] Purple ... Chartre... May 05, 2008 15:53:19
Ugh, when will people stop harping on the 80,000-some Floridians who voted Green eight years ago and start to realize it's the tens of millions of non-voting Americans who are really the ones frakking up the system?

The people who voted Nader made a deliberate, often very well-thought-out choice not to vote for Gore, knowing full well the situation. The people who stayed home? That was just sloth, or apathy, or foolishness. And yet nobody dwells on how random samples of 80,000 of *them* didn't take the time to hit the polls and vote a certain way.
  • +1 raves [-] charles Purple ... May 06, 2008 10:40:28
The millions who don't vote are not apathetic nor lazy, they are refusing to be duped by rigged system of pacifacation. The demigraphics of those who don't vote coincides fairly well with the demigraphics of who has been most screwed over by our electoral system and of those who are on the front lines calling for revolution.

The choices put forward each election are pre-screened by those with wealth (in the mega fundraising phase) s hat it is certain that whoever wins will toe the line.

That's a big part of why it would be so nice if the people could vote directly against someone... to have a say not only in who is most well known but also in who is least distrusted.

You're welcome. Stay tuned... I plan to make another dual-vote poll soon with yet a different selection of candidates that are currently runing. I know this idea of more than 2 parties actually having a chance is new to most people, but it's old news to me. I've been advocating for it more than half my lifetime.
  • [-] Sherry4... TechnoZeus April 30, 2008 02:26:30
What do you think Nader's chances are if Hillary wins? I figure he is busy fighting to get his name on the ballots right now and that's why we haven't heard anything from him. He's missing a prime opportunity to get into the fray. If I thought he could win and Hillary was the nominee, I would definitely vote for him. I just don't want McCain to win . . .

  • +3 raves [-] TechnoZeus Nameles... April 29, 2008 18:02:22
Then you missed the point. With a balanced plurality system a candidate can win based on their own merits because people are no longer forced to cast a vote for someone that they don't really want just for their vote to matter... but it's okay. The system works even if not everybody gets it.

Including your vote for Hillary, and the write-in vote against Hillary, here are the net vote results at this time
    (~2pm, 4/29/2008)...

2 net votes for Cynthia McKinney
0 net votes for or against Kat Swift
0 net votes for or against Mary Ruwart
    1 net vote against Hillary Clinton (1 - 2 = -1)

So far, a Green Party / Peace & Reform Party candidate is winning.
The Democratic party candidate still has a negative net vote count, in spite of your voting for her because you're used to an unbalanced plurality voting system where only two parties have a chance based on which parties are known to have won in the past. In other words... I've eliminated the biggest flaw in the electoral system.

Yeah, I hear you... but in elections that only count positive votes, I think that would be a waste of a vote. Still, she keep up what the negative stuff and the mood swings and then wins the primaries, I may insist on the right to cast a negative vote in the general election... not to vote against her, but to vote directly against McCain so that my vote isn't "for" her but also isn't against the write-in votes for Barack Obama... which I expect there will be a lot of.

Oh, by the way... Against Hillary was one of the options in this poll... but it's all good. Thanks for the vote and the comment. :)
