Girl almost dies after Brazilian wax. Do you think bikini waxing is dangerous?
An unidentified 20-year-old Australian woman with Type 1 diabetes (the kind that requires regular insulin shots) underwent a disastrous Brazilian bikini wax. During the waxing procedure, which was performed by a trainee, the woman experienced some vulval bleeding, suggesting tearing of the skin. And in the two weeks after, she developed symptoms of a worsening infection — pain, swelling, redness and discharge. By the time she sought medical help, she was reporting excruciating pain, fever, a rash that extended up to the chest and neck and severe difficulty urinating. Examination showed her external genitalia were "grossly swollen." Doctors couldn't do an internal examination because the woman was in too much pain; one was eventually performed after she'd been put under general anesthesia.Several doctors reported "If she had not received appropriate therapy, she would have died".
Doctors continue to say "The importance of it is that it highlights a potential new phenomenon and that is the impact of the beauty industry on patients such as this...One of the problems with shaving pubic hair, as opposed to shaving your face or shaving your legs, is that it's an area that just has more bacteria in the neighbourhood, waxing also causes microscopic tears in the skin that can allow bacteria that normally sit harmlessly on the surface of the skin to slip into tiny cuts and cause infections."

There are blatant problems with her waxing..but it cannot all be attributed to the waxing...
With that said..i am not in favor of waxing everything there..being..um neat is def a plus..but to the point of you looking totally unnatural is just gross.
I think the beauty industry needs higher standards when it comes to bacteria...
But would she have died if all of those things had not been in place?

Never been with a woman (and not on my top 5,000,000 list of things to do) but I know how bad hair can smell when it is in certain areas that have body waste coming out of it! I'd rather have something I KNOW is clean :) I thought you were an open minded liberal :)

I am saying it's so much better to get rid of most of the hair in some cases! You don't think that hair can keep a urine or poooooo smell in it? That both of those can cling to hair? I would rather know that there's less for the infections to cling to!

Guys need to nair or shave their pits too because it can smell like sweat. And when guys do just about anything they sweat through thier heads and where ever there is sweat there is smell and bacteria so they need to shave their heads as well. Human bacteria and smell is wrong and unnatural. Thankfully we are well on our way to remedying everything human and being completely bald. Oh wait, no, just women so far.

raves Jul 12, 2007 02:10PM GMTActually it's the advantage of being gay :) I shave my nuts, so that the hair doesn't have sweaty cling to it! I trim my arm pit hair with a 1 guard on the razor about every 3 months to make sure it's clean, and I shower at least 2 times a day and wash my hair VERY WELL each time! I honestly don't care if you shave it and FDS it or leave it natural and smelling like hell, never wiping it or otherwise honestly...I ain't never been down there on a woman and NEVER PLAN ON IT :) haha :)
