Will Senator McCain's "gas tax holiday" be helpful to you personally?

"This week, I laid out an economic plan aimed at providing immediate and long-term relief for all American families. One of the key components of this plan is a suspension of the federal gas tax on gasoline from Memorial Day to Labor Day of this year.

The effect of this "gas tax holiday" will be an immediate economic stimulus - taking a few dollars off the price of a tank of gas every time you fill up. And because the cost of gas affects the price of food, packaging and just about everything else, this immediate step will spread economic relief to every family in America.".....John McCain

    Hey McCain,
If we reduce gas prices, we will be in need of more oil, once again leading us to global warming! Go back to being senator! Leave the country out this!

Your answers read: smart person?! But the brunt of your conversation is "hog-wash". You, like so many others out there, choose to ignore the past associations of Obama (either that - or you do not care).
Iran's leader says the holocaust didn't happen. And wants to "wipe the Jews from the face of the earth"? Obama has close ties to these folks - yet you are willing to see this race decimated again - for your $1000 back in taxes?
You should not call yourself an "American".

Amen... why can't America see this...? He is such a racist, baby killer, Muslim.. please America think before you vote.. do you want your hard earned money divided up among those millions who don't work, and are looking for a free government handout..

That is what McObam is about.. Big government..

While it wouldn't have been a long term solution, the American people needed a solution that would put money back in their pockets when they need it most....which is NOW!

Of course, a cut in the tax at the gas pump would help. The price of everything has been going up. Some relief would be helpful.

I'm not a Republican and I am not a Democrat, I am an American,
We have one practical choice for the position of Commander in Chief of U.S.A.
If we had more to choose from it may be a different answer: However" John McCain is the man for the position, hands down, any other opinion is just that! We cannot afford to allow the misrepresentation of the citizens of the United States be dictacted by the media, and politically driven, deep pocket socialists. We haven't lost the battle yet, but we are close to surrendering ourselves to becoming something we will surely regret. Is there a text book nation in the world that we would want to mirror?

an 18 cent decrease is welcome at any time for gas. They should come up with one for heating oil for New England. Any way, I'd vote for McCain regaurdless. I can't afford any more taxes, and the other guy has prommised raised taxes.

think your quesitons are bias to obama. need to provide more bi-partisan comments. you are obviously trying to get people to vote for obama when all you have to say about him is the bump good, and yet McCain's attempt to try to help our citizens is at least better than just giving a bump... :(
Sad that our citizens will even think of someone so unqualified as obama!!!!
  • raves +1   [-] TexanInHawaii replied to southern gal
Sorry, you so misread that...I am SOOO far from an Obama supporter. My question itself was intended to be unbiased and the quote from McCain came directly (cut and paste) from an email that I receive daily from his campaign.

savings is savings. The argument against the gas tax holiday is 'road and bridge construction and maintanance'. If 'our wounderfoul congress' is so concerned with the people and the safety of our roads and bridges, let them cut their salaries to 1980 levels, and use that difference to 'spur the economy'.

Gas prices affects us all but lowering the gas prices for a holiday isn;t enough. because when the holiday's are over. Everyone has to go back to their normal routine of getting the kids to school, getting themselves to work, getting the kids to their sports events and practices. things go back to the normal, so a few days of lowered gas prices means that i enjoy lowered gas prices for a few days. Now that reality kicks back in what do we do about higher gas prices

I would vote for McCain because he has integrity, and I believe that he will change things. I vote for McCain because I prefer to vote for a man who physically is unable to place his hand over his heart during the national Anthem rather than a man who makes a choice not to do so because of some reason that only he knows. I prefer a man who loves his country rather than a person's whose wife is only now proud to be an American and who says that America is a mean country. I prefer to vote for a man and his vice president because together they will make a change, and I prefer to vote for a man who I can trust. Trust is something that I do not feel with Obama.

Absolutey! if McCain wins the election, the government wont need that money anyways cause he will cut away all of the liberals wasteful spending, especially the spending by governent officials to help themselves, rather than our great country.

    Answered Yes

absolutely! Senator McCain is a smart man of integrity we can trust..excuse me..has he not proven how much he is willing to sacrifice for the betterment of you and me and our country?! How many of you would do the same? With Sara Palin at his side..we will have rational people who seriously want to cut the crap out of the political machine..(in which Barack is totally engulfed in..owes his power to all those celebrities who fund him and doesn't have a mind of his own).

We must continue to fight the terrorism that controls the oil markets and focus on generating new technology and energy ourselves.
The smart car may work fine in small cities..but consider all the huge semi's that we must travel with..we either have to have a truck only lane or find another avenue besides trucking because it seriously damages our roads and it would be insanely unsafe to be in a teeny tiny little car while these trucks on are on the same road. Safety is a factor that most people (people that want to live) must consider.
That is why we are still buying suv's despite the prices..safety.
So..while the smart car may work some places it doesn't work in rural america..
