Why is it socially "acceptable" for a guy to sleep around, but it's not socially "acceptable" for a girl to do the same?

its not right for either to sleep around. i was acually taking to W.H. aid about the fact that it is more acceptted for men to do things rather than women. people expect that between the sexes, women take the moral high road. So when a woman chooses to sleep around, she falls below the norm. I think that's all changing though. Not only does our society not condemn a woman's sleeping around, but I think girls are no longer feeling a cultural imperative to take the moral high road. More cases like the Youtube Florida beating of the cheerleader show that today's girls are just as nasty as the guys.For the record, I've NEVER considered it socially acceptable for anyone to sleep around, guy or girl.

Because only women are at risk of getting pregnant. If men got pregnant instead, then it would be socially acceptable for women to sleep around, not men. If women layed eggs, it would only be a hygene issue.Undecided

I don't find it acceptable for guys to sleep around any more than I do for girls to. As for society, I don't think they exactly smile upon guys who do, either. I think if any imbalance occurs between the image of men who sleep around versus women who do, it probably stems from some sort of general perception that women are supposed to be better at controlling themselves.Undecided

Men are victims of their hormones just as women are. But in a different way. Testosterone is the sex hormone for both men and women. Women who have little or no testosterone, Will not have sex. They will fight off sex . Men don't have twice or 3 times as much testosterone as women. They have 80,000 times the amount of testosterone. To much testosterone in a man will cause him to be a violent remorseless killer. We all know about women's hormones I',ll just say one thing about that. PMS. It's our boys who are at risk. But I don't hear Diane Sawyer or Opra breathlessly calling for fast action in aiding these "at risk" children. No, it's not a fair world. The current rate of college admissions and graduation is favoring women by something like 56%/44% and the gap continues to grow. It is very probable that the future holds a time when women grads will outnumber males 2 to 1.
In our culture it has been true that men are far more likely to marry "down" than women in terms of earnings and education. What happens when the pool of women outnumbers the pool of "suitable" men by this ratio? I see women:
Settling for "less".
Being alone.
Poaching men away from other women.
If and when this comes to pass it will have the perverse effect of giving men more power since they will be a scarce commodity in a sellers market. To compete for the best and the brightest, women with the looks and earnings will have an advantage and that will put pressure on all women because even the "winners" will have to maintain their advantages or risk losing what they have to a trophy wife.
I see the developing dynamic as a great example of unintended consequences and a reinforcement of the adage "be careful of what you wish for!"!

Our society is losing all its values because of woman liberation, granted the men of the world ruined it first but with woman behaving the way men are now adays were on a crash course full speed to a society of sexual deviants, self centered irresponsibility, plagued with broken homes and STD's. Our children are doomed. But feed hungry pig's, who cares what kind of world our children inherrit.
