Since you are obviously a Metallica fan, I'll give you a pass on the unthinkable crime of misspelling the name of one of the best if not the best guitarists of all time. Its JIMI, not Jimmy. That having been said, it really isn't a contest. Over 90% of guitarists today who are worth their salt have been influenced by Hendrix. No slap on Metallica, I had their first album (I bought it on cassette tape and LP) before the second one came out. I've been a fan of them from the beginning, 1983. So I highly respect Kirk Hammett, but no one on your list (except Kirk and maybe Steve Vai) even comes close to Jimi. Maggie, good call on the Stevie Ray Vaughan, another excellent choice. He should have been on this list along with Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page (yes, this time its JIMMY, not Jimi), Robin Trower, Warren Haynes, Joe Satriani, Tony Iommi, and maybe a few dozen others, too many to list here. Kurt Cobain? PLEASE!! Nirvana was a great band, but Kurt isn't even in the same league guitarwise as Jimi. Wendy, don't get mad at me, but I only speak the truth. Chuck Berry, another great choice. Hendrix was probably influenced by HIM. But as for this poll, its Jimi all the way!!
