Good grief. Look at Magic. He’s a behemoth. Do you think he ever had the self control to take a cocktail of expensive drugs that one must take everyday to protect him from getting AIDS from being HIV positive? Besides AIDS was killing over 40,000 people a year at the time. I don’t even know if the “cocktail” even existed in 1991. And certainly not with the help it provides in 2008.
Is he telling the world he abstains from sex? That's a lot of whooey!! -

He was reported to be HIV positive. If true, then he is still HIV positive, since there is no cure.
Does he have AIDS? I don't know.
AIDS is a specific conditions associated with the HIV virus.
Once HIV progresses to AIDS, the individual has AIDS, and it does not reverse. -

I've heard in the past that President Bush and President Reagan wanted Magic Johnson to lie and tell the public he was infected with HIV to make the Black Community stop having unprotected sex.
Now, I don't believe that... and I think he still carries the HIV virus. -

Because he has HIV. The virus that causes AIDS. People will say he does not have full blown AIDS because he is rich and can afford the best medicine. But someone can keep their HIV in check if they simply just take care of themselves. Eat right, rest properly, and exercise as well as follow whatever medication regimine they can get from their insurance coverage or by way of free and low cost clinics for HIV positive people. There have been cases of people that have responded so well to medication that they will actually show up negative on an HIV test after being diagnosed HIV positive because they have managed to decrease their viral load to undetectable.
AIDS is a SYNDROME. The ACTUAL virus is HIV.
So if someone has told you they ever had an "AIDS" test...they are wrong. There is no such thing as an AIDS test. Only an HIV test.
Another boring sounding factiod: The CDC defines AIDS as this: all HIV-infected persons who have < 200 CD4+ T-lymphocytes/microL, or a CD4+ T-lymphocyte percentage of total lymphocytes of < 14. This expansion includes the addition of three clinical conditions--pulmonary tuberculosis, recurrent pneumonia, and invasive cervical cancer--and retains the 23 clinical conditions in the AIDS surveillance case definition published in 1987 (2); it is to be used by all states for AIDS case reporting effective January 1, 1993.

He is HIV positive which is a form of AIDS. The AIDS just isn't full blown.
It is terminal and no cure as of yet for it has been discovered. ;)
What is HIV?
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is the virus that causes AIDS. Viruses cause other diseases, too. Did you know they cause the common cold? They also cause the flu, measles, and chickenpox. HIV attacks the body's immune system. This system protects the body from viruses and germs. When this system is badly hurt, you can get serious infections and illnesses. AIDS is the most serious stage of HIV infection. With AIDS, your body may not be able to fight infections or diseases like cancer.
You can be HIV-positive (HIV+) and not develop AIDS
Today, people with HIV are living longer, healthier lives. From 1990 to 2003, the number of AIDS deaths in the United States went down by 80%. What key steps can you take to live a long, positive life? Get tested. Once you start treatment, stay on treatment. -
