raves 5 days ago (edited)it is ridiculous to say that Obama's work as a lawyer in this case made thousands of unscrupulous mortgage brokers/lenders abuse a system sell bad products to inexpericed borrowers who couldn't afford them and then pocket the bonuses. Then what the finance groups/actuarial software did by selling,reselling,repackaging... what has done us in.
You should listen to this, it has some great information

I believe that the balance of tax benefits, have resided in the top 20% of earners in the country over the past 8 years. I would like to give my sons a chance to live the American Dream. Bring the tax benefits back the other way, to the Middle Class. Joe the Plumber is an idiot. The guy hasn't even paid his taxes (or by now the GOP paid them for him). You wish to hang your sign on him? -
raves Oct 30, 2008 10:00PM GMTand if you read the policy you will note that it is very specific to "working Americans" I know the McPalin team likes to pull only the piece that is self-serving. So share with me, what does McCain deem as "middle class"? He doesn't even have the guts to share that!

raves +1 Oct 31, 2008 02:39AM GMTI have read his tax plan cover to cover as my CPA has which I doubt you have done. According to Joe Biden middle class is below 150,000 a year. That would make a fire fighter with a nurse as a wife rich. Or me putting in about 60 to 70 hours a week into my business rich. So why should I work harder so others don't have too?
The only Guts Obama has shown are those to be able to lie... Saying what he has to too who he has to at the time he has too...

raves Oct 31, 2008 03:21AM GMTObama identifies $250k or below as the middle class. Unless you are above that, you won't see a lift in your taxes and quite likely a loss. My husband and I combined make almost $200k. We have two children in college. My youngest son had a heart attack at age 8 and my eldest started college with Lymphoma. I will see a reduction in my tax, reduction in my tuition (and my sons will serve their community), I will receive a credit for carrying healthcare AND no one can scream foul play (pre existing condition) for either of my children when they begin their first real jobs upon graduating from college and moving from my healthcare to theirs. What piece of this is wrong? What piece of this doesn't serve our public? What part of this doesn't serve my family? Further. I was a single parent for 12 years. I raised these guys on my own in a career in engineering, largely, male dominated. McCain and Palin believe that I should not have the same level of pay as my male counterparts because I was the head of my family. McCain believes that women need more training and education to work in that role and hence don't need to meet their male peer's income levels. Thank God my company didn't see things that way, but I know plenty of women whose companies support that. Do you have a family frien...Obama identifies $250k or below as the middle class. Kiss off any further scientific research due to McPalin's adamacy against stem cell research. I am looking at the whole picture not just a part. I get the policy, Pal. I live reality EVERY day.(less)

As Sadiesmom posted.....
So many have no idea of what they speak when they say that this is a Socialist idea...in actuality, we have been doing it for decades in this country...but, it appears the entire story is not told! I wonder why....
Federal Government Entitlement Programs:
Social Security
Medicare
SChip
AFDC
Medicaid
Unemployment Benefits
Head Start
Free Lunch programs
Disability
the list goes on....
I'm sure most all on SH know of some one that is, has or will partake in at least one of these programs in their lifetime.
BTW! When the Income Tax was first introduced...critics called it Socialism... -

I think redistribution of wealth, needs to be clearly and truthfully explained before decisions and opions are formed. If it means taking money from the rich and giving to the middle class, who are ignored and disavowed, yes, I agree with it. Other wise, I don't. -

I think the question should be weather we suport a better way of Distributing the wealth? We, all ready redistribute the wealth threw our graduated tax system. The problem is that if their is no limits, only the wealthy will manipulate the current system, as the poor continue to struggle. -

i see there is alot of ignorance in this forum. for the idiots that just need a reason to hate obama, your wealth is already being redistributed whether u like it or not. besides paying income taxes... where do u think money from sales tax, traffic tickets, fines, licenses, and other venues go? the govt is taking your money and spreading it to other areas. the hypocracy in this whole economic plan is obama wants to roll back tax cuts to the time when clinton was in office. not too many people can argue about the economy in the 90's. -

What was it that Robin Hood stood for? Steal from the rich, give to the poor? And all you so called "Christians" who are leaning to the conservative side (I call it Greed and Opression Party) how do ya suppose Jesus woulda run a country if somebody put him in control? I'm not saying Obama and Jesus are the same, because Lord knows they ain't the same person. I'm saying that communism, in its dictionary definition...something like "a theory in which each member of society contributes what he can, and recieves what he needs" how can you disagree?
Yes, some people will end up getting a bigger piece of the pie...I don't believe that somebody who works thier a$$ off can make X amount of money, and the recovering meth addict down the street gets the same amount in welfare...you have to work for it. But there's no reason that people should keep falling further and further behind. The vicious circle goes like this:
I don't have any money because I don't have a job.
I can't get a job because I didn't go to school.
I couldn't go to school because I didn't have any money.
I don't have any money because I don't have a job...
I'll be voting for Barack Obama. If, after 4 years, I'm sick of him, I'll probably support Ron Paul. If all else fails, I'll move to Canada. -
raves Oct 27, 2008 05:25PM GMTno, I didn't mean it as in I personally don't have a job...I'm speaking for those less fortunate than myself who can't afford a computer, or even thier own house to put a computer in...because somewhere, they got misdirected and could use a 'safety net' to get back on thier feet.

I can safely say,If this Moron is elected, I'm getting out of the Marine Corps because I refuse to have this spineless socialist coward as my Commander-in-Chief.
