Do you use your religion to support your argument?
(This question is geared towards any person who has a religion, or believes in some sort of Higher Power.)When arguing over abortion, stem-cell research, death penalty, gay marriage, etc. do you use your religion or your Book (if there is one) to support your claim/argument?

Answered No, It Is My Faith Not My Science
I have a Christion faith but even tho it says no to things like homosexuality, stem cell etc (But I am against the death penalty, but countries choose what law they want)
I'm not against it because it's what you think, your faith should have nothing to do with it -

Answered Yes, It Is Evidence
Since I build my life around my religious beliefs then I would be a terrible hyocrite if I didn't use my religion to support my arguments. When I come to a point in my day where I have to make a decision I may be tempted to do something un-ethical unless I fall back upon my religious beliefs to make the right decision. You have probably heard the line, "What would Jesus Do?" That's one of the first things I ask myself. -

I believe in a higher power which could be anything that turns out to have been responsible for the long term evolution of the planets and all life forms and nature., however it's done. Not necessaily a physical being at all.
Trying to specifically enhance your arguments by religion is wrong because religion has too many fallacious, convoluted, and abstract arguments. Nothing in the Bible can be verified conclusively so why do people argue it? Faith is fine. Just leave it at that. No one knows the actual existence of a true God. -

If you can't produce evidence of your argument, it is, by default, false. As a lawyer, I couldn't win a court case just by telling the jury that I was up on a hill and someone told me that my client was innocent. there needs to be PROOF! -

I'll frequently use my humanist world view to make decisions; but frankly, if you can't back up your beliefs, using them in an argument is silly- and religion's such a boiling crow you might as well avoid the subject. -

its important for people to try to view their faith with a critical enough eye so that they might understand that people of other faiths or no faith might have a different viewpoint about personal matters.
And where science and public policy is concerned, people of faith need to understand that church/state separation protects them more than it hinders them. -

People use the bible as a crutch. If they can't make a valid point, or they're too embarrassed to admit their logic sucks, they claim god is on their side. Isn't it funny how god always agrees with what they say in their head?

If you do that, you haven't really thought things through. No thinking man would consider the bible evidence.
