Politics - United States
First natives, then blacks, then gays, and so on. When does it end?
Our society has oppressed, discriminated against, hated, and harmed the "lower people" or the "lesser people" throughout our history. Will it ever stop?
Will we ever see people... as people?

As far as race goes I believe we’ll all be the same color one day from all the interracial dating and marriages. I’m not so hopeful for the gays. But who knows. I myself feel if someone likes the same sex it’s their business and no one else’s. but people are all different, some will never change the way they think. I myself loves me a gay guy friend!! -

And it could actually be the ultimate solution.
But we're going to have to fix the media too
Stop them from filtering everything, show them hard facts, understandable facts (not in some sort of jargon).
We need to get our citizens involved!
We need our people to understand that there are only human beings in America, not blacks, whites, gays, poors, etc.
Once we pass that barrier, which is very possible, we will have achieved equality. -

But in my view, It's a utopian goal, and though we may think that way ourselves (and it appears that we both do), some folks can't be "educated" not to hate... some may respond but those that are hateful simply won't respond to something they may see as brainwashing... they may even get WORSE.

They got confused on the concept of "equality". Instead of making everyone simply equal, they added stipulations and fine print that maintains inequality in one way or another. There shouldn't be special laws or regulations for any one race, sex or belief, they should all be equal in every sense of the word, If it is one way for one group, it should be the exact same for all, weather rich, poor, black, white, etc. -

Answered No, It Will Never End
I've got news for you, oppression started long before the United States came to be. Throughout time, the one constant about man is his creativeness in finding reasons to hate one another. You would be hardpressed to find a group of people who haven't been oppressed for one reason or another be it race, religion, or class. One must not forget that we are merely human and some of us give in to our lower characteristics. Who knows who the next group of people will be? Redheads? Tall people? People of the same race, religion, and class sometimes hate one another as much as they hate someone who is different. You can call it any name you want, but hate is hate and there will always be people who carry it in their hearts. -

Other than that, we are no different than anyone else. We all want the same things--a roof over our head and food in our mouths. When you consider the larger view and the history of mankind, you will be less likely to consider it an "American" problem.

I didn't want to do that, cause I don't give a shit about the world.
Wars are fought, lives are lost, people are sad, people are mad.
If everyone worried about themselves and cared for themselves a little more often, the world would be a better place.
So I post this poll trying to make people think about that
Obviously, it's not working. -
raves Oct 05, 2008 04:12AM GMTOnce again, I believe that you are trying to address human nature. Philosophers have pondered over these very things for centuries. I believe there is something inherent within all of us that we can succumb to hate via racism and/or separatism or choose not to. Rise above it so to speak. I appreciate that you are so seemingly adamant in your quest, but the truth is I am no more qualified, in fact far less I'm sure, to give you the answers you are seeking. I wish you the best of luck.

as long as people continue to identify themselves based on their race or color it will be impossible for the world to see them any other way.
This presidential race has been a gross overpolarized atrocity.
When we stop talking about our differences and start discussing what is best for everyone we'll be one step closer to becoming integated and fully diverse.

It's been going on since the beginning of time. It's certainly not an American thing like your poll would like to suggest. America is the greatest country on the planet and tries extremely hard to make everybody equal.
