I believe that they should be separate but they aren't and never will be. The government will always have it's hand in everything to an extent, including the affairs of religious organizations.

I don't think the government should run the church...nor should it be the other way around. But...I don't think we should take "In God We Trust" off of anything.

I think it's our greatest constitutional principal. Without it democracy would be in peril. I think the fact that it irritates so many religious groups is evidence of it's necessity.

I do believe that the country should not be run by the church, however i do NOT agree with where all the separation of church and state nazis have gone with it. I do believe in prayer at school, i do believe in saying a prayer before a football, basketball or baseball game and i guess you could do it before a soccer game as well. :-)

Because not everybody agrees with every religion so we shouldn't force any religion on people by not seperating church and state
  • raves +1   [-] by Alphalily

    Answered None of the above

~~not as our world teaches it ,but yes as the Bible teaches it.The world says Render to Caesar the things that are Caesars so that says to me give to the government the things you owe it like taxes, your time ,support your country but to God those thing which are Gods your prayers, your offerings, your tithes, your love, for your fellow man. But our country sees it as not praying at school. not having the ten commandments inour courts ,taking Gods name off our money . It is not the government taking from your fellow man and giving what one has to others .
  • raves     [-] Alphalily replied to Alphalily
Do you know why separation of church and state was written? So their would be no ONE religion trying to rule the people , not to stop religion or keep it out of things having to do with state . It was to help the people and they let it tear them down and their will come a time and someone will try to put their idea of what you should believe in our government and you will not know it is wrong because God has been removed from our lives.

I think that school and church are 2 different things..... however I also think that if you want both you should go to a private school. Mainly due to the fact that a most people dont agree with other Churches......

Pandering....... Pandering for votes, Bush did it and now Obama............. good way to destroy systems already setup by Churches is to come in with Government Programs..... the most inefficient always....... rules, guidelines, red tape ......the red tape........ are you guys thinking this through?

And...... control...... separation of church and state.... lets kiss that good by.

Think.... Think....??? Where do Church programs get their funding? Right! From you and me.....our Charity efforts..... Now, where does the government get their funding?
    YUP...... same pocket..... ours!
Do you think people will give as much to charity if they think the government (our money) is doing it?

You know the answer to that......... NO....
We, as citizens and members of churches do a lot of service where needed and continue to fight the battle.......... and you know what? We are doing a good job.... there is always room for more.
Bush did this to pander for votes...... it works......... I can see clearly now......

KEEP THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF FAITH BASED ANYTHING.

I'd be fine with religious institutions having a hand in governance once they pay off 232 years of back taxes.

  • raves     [-] StreetSpirit replied to Sister Jean
and under bush's 'no child left behind' if public schools aren't doing well, they lose their funding.

but wouldn't that mean that your religion then tells people what to do (if there is no separation)?

I'm sorry, I don't think I was clear! Anyway what I meant is that you said "I would never want a government to tell me what to do about my religious beliefs or legislate moral issues." and you don't support separation, right? So I was wondering, that wouldn't that mean if there's no separation, that religion will play a big part on how the government works?
