It's not a gateway drug... I used alcohol before pot. Ive been smoking for 17 years and not once thought about straying away from my Mary Jane. Yes- I've done other drugs, but only because they were free and my friends gave it to me. Besides, coming down from marijuana is not as bad as the detox from harder drugs. I don't know about anyone else, but puking my guts out for weeks is not my idea of a good time. -

Rediculous...I'm high right now, at 9:58 am, and I work a very well paying job with a lot of responsibilities. I have never had the urge to do any other drugs, and I choose not to consume alcohol because of it's dangerous and addicting properties. I am in great shape, I often partake in 5k's and workout 5 days a week. Weed is something that calms me when I get home from work. It makes my stomach feel better (I have Celiac's Disease). It also helps me study my at home college courses I'm taking. So, no, F*****G weed is not a gateway drug; perhaps a gateway break-through should someone make the decision to legalize weed and abolish alcohol. -

For some people YES! For others, NO!
Regardless though, (speaking for myself) it's a drug. My goal is to be free of drugs. The government wants you hooked on drugs! The government wants to keep it illeageal to keep America in prison and America addicted to make money. The more you fight....the more you smoke...the more you smoke...the more you stop thinking about the truth and convince yourself that it's harmless.
The bullshit government wants your mind clouded! They want you smoking so you continue to avoid a clean, healthy lifestyle. They've created the fight with legalizing marajuana. This assures that you don't fight them on other issues and lose focus. Drug users (including pot smokers) haven't a clue to the control the government has on them and their mind.
Clear, clean lifestyles, away from TV are what the government really fear. -

nope... not for me I can't speak for everyone but I've smoked some grass in my time that made me say " I'll never smoke again" ( still burning though) so I have no desire to try anything else weed is enough for me besides you gotta be pretty depressed to wake up and say "hey i smoke weed so I wonder what crack taste's like?" That's weak reefer is as nature intended... CRACK IS WACK!!! -

raves +1 Aug 27, 2008 03:57PM GMTI think after being scared to try it the first time and then letting my gaurd down and smoking, that gave me courage to try other drugs. I don't blame marajuana for my issues when I was young. Smoking pot was a symptom of my bullshit life at that time but it opened the door to help me in my quest to fuck my life up!
There was a reason I was smoking and my favorite excuse was.....to relax. Well, no shit! lol....But why did it take pot to relax? Why did it get to the point to where I use to say...I could quit anytime I wanted and then continued to smoke on a regular basis? Pot changes the way you think, it makes you forget life, it lies to your brain and convinces you that you're more open, creative and happy. I bought it all, until my head cleared up and started to pride myself on clear thinking and a strait edge lifestyle. -
raves +1 Aug 27, 2008 04:18PM GMTPeople seem to have worse problems with alcohol. See I have been smoking pot for 10+ years now, regularly.. I have a career. I have own a successfull business for 5 years. I have done everything I have wanted to do thus far. Now I am happy for you that changing that aspect of your life has changed it for the better. But people must understand that pot on the whole isn't the problem. It is people who lack self control that are giving the reefer the bad rap.

If someone asked me my opinion on marajuana, then I'd be more than happy to say how I feel about it. But I'm not going to tell anyone that they should or shouldn't do anything.
I agree that drinking can lead to a more dangerous addiction and the problems with drunks seem to be worse than the problems with someone who speands all day burning.
But the same can be said for someone who is addicted to collecting certain things. Collecting comic books and blowing all your money and not paying the bills only hurts that person and it's not hurting anyone else, therefore smoking pot is more dangerous in that argument.
There will always be people who take addictions to the extreme and don't understand what addiction is. Anything can be an addiction but my point is something doesn't have to be...I prefer living life without ANY addictions and there will always be something worse than the other. So I'm not sure the drinking argument is fair. -

For myself it would be No, because I know how I am... We tried to pass marijuana in Vegas and I didn't believe it got voted down... To me smoking a joint when you get home from work is no different than having a beer or a cocktail... In fact pot smokers are usually mello, No I am not speaking from experience just observations...I have eaten food with pot in it in my younger days and it is uh memorable... HeeHee -
raves Aug 27, 2008 03:48PM GMTYou may take up carpentry but as you were laying down the carpets, you became interested in electrical work while watching the electricians, so you decided to try something new.
It may not of lead to other drugs for you but it was for others....like me ;-)
It actually started with smoking cigs!
