Answered talk along and hope to remember who they are
atleast for me i couldn't say to somebody if they knew who i was.....who are you? so i would keep the conversation going as long as i could to try to recap on old memories.....and if not then i would straight up ask ?who are you? -

Um, I always remember faces however names are different. If I remembered their face I'd asked who is your kid? (most parents are known by their kids).
But if I had no idea I'd just keep walking with speed......then act as if I didn't hear what they said. -

Answered ask if you know them
I simply say:
I'm sorry, I don't remember who you are, could you please refresh my memory...?
If they truly know me, they would also know I am horrendous at remembering these things. I find socializing boring and do it as little as possible, therefore I seldom remember anybody, and they would know all this -
