I agree with the comment made by Sister Jean as she laid it out. But, as far as the way the term "liberal" is used today, first read the new testament, then ask yourself if Jesus would be "pro-choice" or if he would agree with gay marriage. -

Every thing Jesus did was liberal! Caring for the sick and hungry - How much do those who write here contribute yearly to charity? I am at 20% and yes I can afford it, but people need to stop using single issues and take care of one another. Some would say there those who are hopeless-that is negative and very destructive. So is the glass half full or half empty. Go out and help. The Salvation Army always needs people in you own community for a few hours a week. Go to local VA and help a few hours. It is money well spent. Be Jesus for a day and then see if he was a Liberal or Conservative. -

lets see, he hated the banking institution, was against war, believed in giving all of peoples possessions to the poor, believed in healing the sick
this is my favorite:
"And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you" -

raves +2 Aug 21, 2008 10:46PM GMTcompassion isnt always giving somone money and I think his behavior shows he is the opposite of what your stating then.. you say liberals create programs that do more harm than good.. and i would agree.... giving obamas little brother money would teach him nothing would it?
Interesting...... -
raves +2 Aug 21, 2008 10:56PM GMTno giving money is not always the answer... i would spend time with him ...and if he had drug or alcohol problems like his dad i would get him into rehab. .and try to solve the problem i sure as all hell would not leave my little brother in a hole..i wouldn't necessary give him money but i would pay for whatever help he needed..even if i was the most uncaring asshole in the world if i was runing for prez i would make every effort possible to do something with this kid to avoid scandal bo inst even smart enough to do that..

raves +1 Aug 21, 2008 11:00PM GMT (edited)and how do you 'know' he hasnt tried those things? Have you walked in BO's shoes or directly behind them to observe how he has handled the situation?
You and I both know you can want everything in the world for your family,, but you cant make them happy,,, happiness is a personal choice to free ones self from misery..... you can have all the money and love in the world from others, and still hate yourself inside making you depressed and miserable.
I really think your 'judging' him with little knowlege of the facts,, but if you want to hate somone you will find a reason so I hope you get through this and find peace irregardless of how the election turns out.. I hope we all do. -
raves +1 Aug 21, 2008 11:08PM GMTThen the man your speaking of is only his brother due to a father who liked to have sex without a condom. If they werent raised together there is no bond and again we go back to the 'dont hand welfare to people unwilling to work on themselves' issue.
As I said... you will find a reason to hate him if you look hard enough and decide thats what you want to feel. -
raves +2 Aug 21, 2008 11:23PM GMTi was adopted ...if i had a biological brother out there i would keep him close to me the rest of my life. hate is a very strong word i dont hate anyone.. i just dont want a goofball runing are country..and buy the way arent community organizers suppose to help people ? it doesnt matter what stupid thing bo does next you will support him............................. .its impossible for a lib to think things threw

raves +1 Aug 22, 2008 12:10AM GMTactually your assuming again dahacks... I dont support Obama fully or McCain fully either one.... i would most like to see independant republican Ron Paul win the presidency.
I really can not choose a 'lesser of two evils' because thats what has kept this country in the mess of corporate control for so long. I realize it may be ignored by the supers.. but I plan to vote very differently this time in hopes that america wakes up between now and the election to see either man will surely flush our kids futures and the only thing we CAN do to stop that is make a real stand. If we protest we risk arrest.. if we argue we risk investigation.. so I will use the power of my vote to make my voice heard.
I have a distinct feeling that if EITHER of these divisive men win... there will be hell to pay. Everyones been worried about BO being hurt.. and yet today McCain recieved a threatening letter with white powder that surely was meant to be assumed as an attempt on his life. I dont believe for a minute that a vote for either man will save this country,, but rather doom it further down the path its already heading.

that's why the Pharisee with their old law feared Him,he broke many old laws...imagine he had women for friends and he spoke to sinners and worked miracles, and he made simple fishermen the first priests etc etc
