"HARROLD, Texas — A tiny Texas school district may be the first in the nation to allow teachers and staff to pack guns for protection when classes begin later this month, a newspaper reported.
Trustees at the Harrold Independent School District approved a district policy change last October so employees can carry concealed firearms to deter and protect against school shootings, provided the gun-toting teachers follow certain requirements.
In order for teachers and staff to carry a pistol, they must have a Texas license to carry a concealed handgun; must be authorized to carry by the district; must receive training in crisis management and hostile situations and have to use ammunition that is designed to minimize the risk of ricochet in school halls."

Nope
Although for day to day behavior, I don't think the gun will be what effects discipline, it will be a teacher with a cool head ("crisis management") and a plan ("hostile situations").Yep
'Bout Time!!!Yep
I doubt it will change how the kids act. I might dissuade kids like the ones at Columbine, but otherwise, business as usual. Schoolage kids think they are invincible and aren't afraid of death. I think it's scary, I can't trust the teachers hear to be fair to my child, but I can trust them to carry and potentially use a gun?Only teachers I wouldn't trust with a gun are the ones who don't want to wear one anyway so no big deal there.
Nope
That ought to keep 'em in check.Yep
yes... Ill be very suprised if they dont wind up with an accidental shooting in the very near future due to a teacher mistakenly thinking somones pulling a gun or showing it off or something the 'untrained' tend to do..... if the teachers want to carry guns, I say make them go through a police taught course and get a special license or something to reduce the chances somone is just trigger happy. I certainly wouldnt want it to be MY kid that gets shot because a teacher was to quick to assume....Did yall get a chance ta read the description?
Take a gander at it.
Nope

Yep
Klebold and Harris would not have gotten as far as they did if a teacher who was armed and trained to use a gun would have been there.Isn't tha closing the barn door after the horse dun run off?
Yep
Because the guns are not intended to manage discipline. If they want to improve discipline, let the teachers carry a paddle, and encourage them to use them!
Yep
Is it Global Warming causing the heat dow south to affect thinking processes. California should support home schooling instead of discouraging it - seems the better solution.Yep
You better believe it. Its your right to defend yourself - and here is an article regarding Presidential candidate Bob Barr regarding your 2nd amendment rights to bear arms http://www.unitedliberty.org/...Nope
You can't have discipline problems when everyone is dead."That is the wrong answer son!" ... ::BANG!::
Yep
moderated...Y'all will admit y'all were wrong?
Yep
Carryin' is one thing...dischargin' is a whole 'nother ballpark!! sounds pretty regulated!Nope
Some kids would be served well by a good pistol-wippin!
