I don't really get what's so special about the autobahn. I've only ever noticed that the exit signs are so bloody hard to read and if you miss an exit you're buggered. Although once, in my best friends brothers car he went off the autobahn and around this really sharp corner at nearly 150 km/h I almost died. -

A friend that lived in Germany said if your car can't do over 100 mph stay out of the left lane unless passing then get over quickly. Fastest I've been on the interstate was 150 on the flat. Car topped out at that speed. Young and stupid. -

Been there done that for 6 years. German towns are really close maybe 6 to 10 km apart You have all the peoples farms around the center of town which may have a Guest house which brews their own beer, Bakery, Meat market and all the farm houses. These people work hard all week, mama would do the shopping every day because the freezers are only about 8 inches high. They buy for supper everyday. they each sweep their section of street and they mow the grass with a scythe. Anyway on Sunday the day of rest they drive on the Autobauns. They are 3 lanes which the right lane goes about 50mph, middle lane goes about 80 and the outside lane well anything goes and they don't ask that you get out of the way. You may get a blink of headlights. That's about it just stay with the grand parents in the first 2 lanes and you'll do fine.
