Funny? If they had been black instead of Chinese, would the Spaniards have painted themselves black? And would blacks all over the world think it was funny? That would be a resounding NO! So of course, it was far more racist than anything else. -

I agree. One of the options up there should read that it is just a joke, it wasn't meant maliciously, but it was a joke in poor taste. That can be a funny inside joke to the team all they want, but for them to make a poster where they're all posing like that? -

people don't understand spanish humour as I see. The put their eyes like that as if they wanted to be like their hosts. We (spanish people) wouldn't be offended if someone from another country did something like this about us. We are not always bullfighting or dancing and singing flamenco, but we are usually represented like that on TV programmes and films, but have you heard us complaining about it?? NO!! -

If this comment repeated itself, please forgive. I think it is definitely in poor taste. Would they think a picture of men all in tights and hair slicked back with grease was funny? I doubt it. Of course the idiot that brought the picture to the forefront is just as much to blame. -

Whether it was a joke or not, whether it was not meant for the "world' to see or not...it was in poor taste! When you represent your country in the Olympics, NEVER take a picture that you don't want the world to see! These are supposed to be the finest athletes Spain has to offer and they are representing their country. It is NOT a time to be joking around when you are taking a TEAM picture. It was obviously STAGED, so they KNEW someone would see it. Have some respect for the people who are hosting you in THEIR country! While I don't agree with the Chinese government all of the time and the way they treat their citizens, they have been good to all of the countries they have hosted in the Olympics. Where were the coaches of this team when this picture was taken? How did it get published? Personally, I get tired of hearing people say, "I was just kidding!" when they get caught doing something wrong. Nobody takes responsibility for their actions anymore. What happened to "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you?" -
