Sarcoidosis, the disease that led to Bernie Mac's death: Have you heard of it?

Often misdiagnosed, sarcoidosis remains a little known disorder, even in the medical community. It affects a disproportionately high amount of African Americans particularly Black women. The disease sometimes leads to other complications such as pneumonia, due to the medications used to treat it.
Have you heard of the disease before?

gonna look it up now because I saw thats what they said he died of but had no clue on the spelling.. thanks!

    Answered Yes, I knew of it and its a serious disease.

    My first wife died from complications related to this disease!! It's nasty - and sneaky! Hard to diagnose.

    sarco- is a medical prefix that refers to connective or supportive tissue,
    -oid in a medical context means like, -osis generally refers to an inflammation of.

    I never have heard of it, did not even know he was suffereing from the disease....he will be missed, he was so funny and made great movies...
