I know this is the only reason I edit, and I assume most people are doing the same thing.

I have done this before, to change my grammar on several polls. Not the best speaker "typer" here, but I do not want to sound stupid either. LOL
And when someone is hateful and blocks you because they do not agree, I add to my previous comment to let them know I did not appreciate being blocked.

I always try to make sure my comment makes sense and sometimes I edit it after I posted it and read it and say to myself what the hell were you saying. I'm also removed somethings if I feel maybe is too vulgar or inappropriate...:o)

I take it for granted that the person wanted to correct a spelling/typo error or to rephrase the comments. I don't get paranoid...

I, it seems, have edited damn near. every entry I've made on SH. I'm anal about spelling, pronuciation and typos. I can't control it - get a life squint!
  • raves +1   [-] Squint replied to Squint
I'm apparently getting better. Note the misplaced period (.) in my first comment above. I'm not going to fix it.

Good for you! I am like that as well!

I'm usually fixing my spelling so I think that's most of it....but sometimes just to make sure I am understanding the question I look at a couple answers, then sometimes if I'm off the mark I change things, like one where a hubby needed ideas for a gift, then I looked at answers and saw his wife answered the poll and said what she wanted....so I changed it to say do what she wants.

I dont know where those mistakes come from. The sentence looks correct when I type them but somehow once on display those pesky grammar and spelling errors crop up magically. lol...see I did it again! duh
  • raves +2   [-] Juli replied to toni
Yes, that happens all the time to me. I think everything is good, then look at it after I post it and there's an error. I'm not one for leaving it - the OCD in me!

For a ton of reasons. I usually edit for spelling, or grammar, but I have for content as well.

I think I need new glasses because lots of times when it is posted with the larger font i find a typing or grammar error that probably noone else notices but it drives me nuts. gotta love that edit button!

Always depends on who wrote the comment ... ;)
  • raves +3   [-] by John

Answered Took out something they didn't want others to see.

I think on occasion it's spelling although most people on here don't care about spelling! I think it's MORE they realize they said something they shouldn't have! I know I get easily upset at a few people who are too dumb to function on their own and I end up editing myself before I offend them or others...If I'm upset I usually stop and re-read what I've written to make sure that there isn't too much "harm" being done"! Then again sometimes I edit to offend more haha! :)
  • raves +1   [-] Juli replied to John
I don't usually even notice if a comment has been edited....never look, I guess. There has been some heated comments lately that involved editing so I wondered what everyone thought.
  • raves +2   [-] John replied to Juli
I like trying on occasion to P!SS certain people on here off...using words I would get slapped most of the time for using...they censor me and edit it...your "son" enjoys causing problems on here on occasion :) talk at ya later "momma"

    You're grounded! :)
  • raves +1   [-] John replied to Juli
Oh gosh..that would be a first...me having freedom and being grounded...my parents were a joke in grounding...it's like ultra-conservative Christian upbringing (Nazzi prison) and them saying you can't do something...it was commical! :)
  • raves +1   [-] Juli replied to John
Hey son.......how was it being grounded??????????/

Personally, I don't think too much of it. I know I've edited a few comments to correct spelling and grammar - but I'm a writer and that's normal lol. Can't help going back - even weeks after the post - and correcting a mistake in spelling - it's almost OCD for me actually. As far as when I see someone else edited their post - I really just don't think anything of it. So what if they did take out something? Isn't that also a part of the freedom of speech? So why bother worrying over it?
  • raves +3   [-] Juli replied to I'm gonna put your head thr...
That's how I am about my spelling, etc. It's an OCD thing with me, I'm sure! I have changed mine weeks later as well. There has been some editing that has caused some problems with other SH lately; hence, where I got the idea.
  • raves +1   [-] magmeister10 replied to I'm gonna put your head thr...
You know, I wish more people would read over what they've written down before hitting vote. Not just for spelling errors. I can usually figure those out. Fragmented sentences, no punctuation, sometimes I read an answer 3 or 4 times and don't have a clue what the person is saying. I try to work it out, but it just doesn't make sense. I'm sure they have valid points, but I just figure I'd have to be in their head with them to know what they are.
  • raves +1   [-] Juli replied to magmeister10
Yes. Sometimes, I feel out of breath after reading a comment that just went on and on without punctuation!
  • raves +1   [-] chance replied to Juli
Maybe more people should use that edit button. Today someone used the spelling "there" instead of "their" and I wonderred if the poster knew the difference. Now why should that bother me I asked myself, then figured I was spending way to much time on these SH polls. lol
