I do think some get caught up in their own hype...then they take a hard fall. Most publicly, we have seen this in Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, and Ted Haggard. I think this also happens in smaller churches. Power corrupts and self-righteousness abounds. My grandfather called it "being in the flesh.....not letting the Spririt work through you fto do God's work -

Sometimes we forget Christs Words. I love the bumpter sticker "What would Jesus do?" If we all thought along those lines we would have a much better site and better world. And I just have to say Sis that it really burns me that people give you a hard time. -

I used to think that "living the life," but no more. You can't actually "live the life" in reality without opening your mouth and preaching.
Try to live a day without ever opening your mouth once to drink water, to eat, to breathe. This is a physical picture of a spiritual truth. The spoken Word of God is breath from the soul. :) -

I think that 2 many people a listening 2 it, and that's a good thing. But less and less people are asking themselves "What would jesus do?". I'll even admit it, I don't even ask myself that question anymore. But I'm Going to try more and more. -

It is a danger we must always guard against. I can tell you all day long that I am an orange tree but when my fruit is borne and it is apples, I have been lying to you. Jesus said they shall know us by our fruits, not by our words. Evangelizing is good and proper in its place. The trick is to know when it is the right time. -

I trust in God and have accepted Jesus as my savior. I try to live the truth everyday and sometimes in our secular society Christians allow themselves to be drawn in to the "secular view". To be a Christian means to live it in all areas of my life, even if my beliefs are unpopular. It has taken a long time for me to understand what this means. I believe many Christians are confused by people when they have opinions contrary to the Bible. -

Sadly, in most religions today, people spend more time discussing how right they are, rather than living by what they claim to believe.
It's a power trip that is easy to obtain, because it requires no real substance to back it up. Its all faith based. As a result, it brings out a type of narcissism that is both unique, and dangerous.
I grew up in a Christian household, and I can honestly say that I saw and heard more podium thumping and accusations than guidance on how to live a better life. That is one of the reasons why I left, and found something else.
All of the Chick Tracts, the 700 Clubs, the TBN's and "holier than thou" attitudes have done nothing more than stain what was originally taught.
The same thing has been happening in other religions. It's become more like a gang than a faith. It's a shame too, because at the root of most religions, the same principal applies:
Be nice to each other. No matter what. If you are, things will be easier, and youll be rewarded.

Your haters, are very poor advocates for Catholicism, and for Christianity, as a whole.I am a very very bad Catholic, but I had12 years of education, by Jesuits, in one of the finest schools, in Western Canada. Is this a result of a lack of proper education?
