Can't compare the two, car accidents are accidents, death by gun is always on purpose.
Cars primary purpose is transportation.
Guns primary purpose is projecting chunks of metal to impact on bodies.
A world of difference in the intended purpose of each of these machines...
We should ban everything that could possibly kill us.
Since the liberals believe it can all kill you, why don't they just sell off everything. You sure don't see any of them in a rush to do so.
Liberals claim they are "so concern" about the life of people, is that why the support abortion?
In just the past 5 years, more people have been killed off because of drunk drivers and abortion than all the American people who have been killed in every war we have been involved in. Now where is the concern of the liberals?
No, but we should carefully regulate who can drive a car, under what circumstances it can be driven, and what sorts of rules must be followed when driving one. Someone with no training should not be able to walk into a car show and purchase (and subsequently drive away in) a Hummer. Anyone who wants to drive a car should be required to pass a course in safety and operation procedure, and then take a substantive test measuring both his ability to handle a car and his acumen at using it appropriately. Cars should be carefully designed to maximize safety and minimize the chance of injury or death during their operation, and should have safety protocols to keep children from driving away in them. All these regulations should be subject to government oversight, rather than voluntary cooperation by the automotive industry.
People kill people, can't blame objects for actions people do.
Blaming OBJECTS for deaths is stupid. You have to blame ppl. ONLY THEY can kill. Objects can NOT act on their own. Besides if guns kill ppl then pencils make spelling errors.
For the majority, people do NOT use their car as an intentional killing device whereas a gun was made for the purpose of killing. How people use their firearms is up to them and hope ANYBODY who owns them is responsible in the handling of the weapon and keep them AWAY from children at ALL costs. Studies have shown that homes where firearms are owned are more likely to result in a fatality then those who do not. While people can harm another with many objects, a gun is the likeliest of all to result in a death-period.
I am NOT a gun owner and dislike them myself, therefore will NEVER have one in my house. This does not mean, however I condemn RECREATIONAL gun owners as long as they're using them for just that or self-defense. The only people, IMO, who s/b using a gun to kill another person is law enforcement or the military. Case closed: VHM1
People kill people, can't blame objects for actions people do.
i have owned a gun since I was 15, I have never killed anybody with it.
I have owned a car since I was 23, I have never killed anybody with that either
maybe it's not so much an object thing, as it is a personal responsibility thing
of course, personal responsibility is a very unpopular idea in these days when people are suing other people, or sometimes entire corporations, over stuff that happened because of their own absolute lack of common sense, and winning thanks to liberal judges. Personal responsibility has become an anachronism im this age of handouts and entitlement, just as self-control has become a thing of the past. Nowadays, instead of disciplinig their kids, parents just say "Oh, it's ADD" and get a ritalin perscription and drug their kids up so the don't have to deal with them
That is the point behind the poll, to point out the obvious that it takes a single person's action to cause harm. Objects on their own cannot do anything.
People kill people, can't blame objects for actions people do.
The fact is WE can't BLAME GUNS or CARS! People are the ones that Kill other people. Sometimes accidents happen with both guns and cars; that's just a fact! That doesn't mean we should do away with them. I don't own a GUN and but I own a car that I Love. I can't live without my CAR. It get's me from point A to point B, C, D etc,... (It saves me TIME) People make choices that can be harmful and we shouldn't blame objects; People just need to get Accountable for their actions. Pro-Car; Pro-choice on Guns!
People kill people, can't blame objects for actions people do.
Well, guns are great if used responsibly. If you kill someone in self defense is way different than murder. So if I have a gun and I don't murder anyone, then what's the problem. It could save my life if used in self defense against someone that may try to murder me for their greed or drug fix.
People that cannot handle a gun responsibly should not have them. People convicted of certain crimes, even soem crimes where guns were not involved, should not be allowed to have guns.
Same with cars. Yes, a car can kill people, but how often does someone use a car for murder? Yes, it happens. occasionally someone intentionally uses a car to committ murder. I actually think that drunk drivers that kill people should be convicted of murder and not allow it to be amended down to involuntary manslaughter. And someone caught drinking and driving, even if not in an accident should be taken in for attempted murder because that potential is there when they get behind the wheel drunk.
If anyone operates a motor vehicle irresponsibly and dangerously, then they should not be allowed to drive any vehicle.
You can pick up a brick or a 2x4 and hit someone over the head, but if we ban that too, then we would have to demolisah and confiscate alot of homes and businesses!
Did you know that I actually have a fear of trucks and classic cars? I can't stand in front of one without imagining it running me over. The one's that scare me the most are Jeep Wranglers, because of thier high flat grill and formidable bumpers, I had one and I was nervous washing it when standing in front of it!
Interesting. I think the old cars definitely had more "personality". I think it has to do with the way the headlights were set to look like eyes and the grill looks like teeth. Modern, streamlined cars where the front end is smooth just don't look like they have faces anymore.
You're absolutely right! Jeep Wranglers have round headlights that have the appearance of big staring eyes. That always has evoked a fright response in me.
Yes. I did own a Jeep Wrangler for about 6 months. It's a long story, and it shows how unstable I was at the time.
In the 11th grade I got interested in cars, because I was "weird" and didn't have normal interests, and I began to think that car guys were "real people". I got especially interested in classic cars, because I have older parents that constantly bash todays vehicles. I was really obsessed with them at the time, and it was pretty much an image thing. Jeep Wranglers are a sort of presige vehicle in thier own way, and the people who drive them wave at each other. Being a nerd, I mistakenly thought that I would make friends be having one.
I test drove a Jeep Wrangler on my 18th birthday, and I found it to be extremely uncomfortable, and I was afraid to look at it (like I said above) but I still wanted one for the prestige. I kept complaing about both of my parents cars relentlessly night and day from the 11th grade, all the way up until February 08, when they finally bought a Jeep Wrangler for me.
I'm normally a very laid back guy, but I thought I was supposed to be interested in powerful engines, because my parents always say the cars from back in thier day were real cars, because of the power, and my dad loved the sound of powerful cars.
So I forced myself to...

So I forced myself to like the sounds of powerful cars in an attempt to be a normal, proper human, and I would often excellerate hard in my jeep, when the traffic was safe. I came close to flipping it over at least three times, and I eventually ended up running into a tree in someone's front yard at upwards of 40 mph three weeks ago.
Now I'm completely over that car crap. I'm going to continue to be myself from now on, wierd or not.
Glad you got through OK and are over "that car crap". I have been avoiding driving my car any more than necessary to save money and for geopolitical and environmental reasons. Last time I filled up, I had to clear the cobwebs off the gas cap. My next car will probably be electric.
They only want to take our guns so it will be easier to declare martial law.no rebellion no fight.Wake up ppl we are losing more & more of our rights everyday.
People kill people, can't blame objects for actions people do.
Technically, everything kills people.
The air you are breathing right now, well, it's probably killing you too. So, hold your breath...
People die from the food they eat, too. So put down that fork.
Anything and everything can be used as a weapon if you are creative enough. I once read about a woman that decapitated her husband with a butter knife, it took 12 hours.
cars, guns, axes, knives, drugs, there are a lot of dangerous objects in this world and the people who use them to harm others need imprisonment and i would also say help, but since the psychatrists believe no one can get better then we should just put them in prison and throw the key away..... a weapon is a weapon in the hand of a lunatic, irresponsible person, or a criminal or criminally insane person ... thats all i have to say...
People kill people, can't blame objects for actions people do.
I wish there was something more that could be done to prevent stuff like that happening, but in reality there is no test or screening that can be done to predict things like that so it will just go on happening. The only thing I can think of is stricter punishments for stuff like drunk driving...
and knifes, forks are pretty dangerous, fast food, junk food, regular food not served in right portions, tree branches, aircraft, electric plugs, bathtubs, farm equipment, wild animals, sicissors(remember don't run with them), don't run and pick your nose either!
