Passengers are being evacuated by inflatable chutes from an American Airlines jetliner after an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport.
Firefighters were on hand this Tuesday August 5, 2008 to help passengers as they slid down two emergency chutes aboard the plane. The airport reports smoke was detected in the cabin before the landing.
A city fire department spokesman says no fire had been discovered. No injuries were reported. (more)

but it's stories like this that make me nervous when flying! something about being stuck in a tube with recycled air and no way out if something happens freaks me out! maybe I'm just a control freak...anyway, i guess it doesn't freak me out enough to stop traveling!
