Do the Democrats and Republicans REALLY represent the people of America?

They are bought and paid for by lobyists and do whatever the money tells them to. If we ever want our country back they all need to go. Vote 3rd party.

I truly believe that until evey private & corporate Lobby is done away with, the American people & their vote is almost meaningless. The choices our politicians make have been bought & paid for by special interest groups, corporations, foriegn interest groups, and the private $$$'s backing candidates. It is a crime that 100's of millions of wasted dollars are spent each election, when those dollars could benefit our country in so many other ways.
Then our country ends up with choices that we have anyways. Our Fore Fathers never intended it to be like this. A man used to get elected to office because he earned the respect of Americans by his accomplishments & values. Now everyone is so divided that there is no unity on almost anything.
intended elected office earned respect americans accomplishments values divided unity

Yes and No depend on the candidates. You and I have to dig and get info about he or she before we go to the poll. Wake up America, vote for our country and people. Do not vote for the rich lobbyists who corrupt American and turn her to be a socialist country. My opinion.

Most all these people have lead a pampered life. We are talking about people that are so far removed from our standard way of living that they have no clue about our every day struggles .I will grant you there are a few that did not have it all that easy while growing up. I think they have forgotten were they came from. For the most part they are all clueless. They are out to make a buck for themselves. Or just plain power hungry. Take your pick.

Both parties now represent the socialists.

The progressives who should be the Democratic Party are Patriotic.
The leftists who have taken over the party are like Stalinist than Democrats.

The GOP is nearly the same after having allowed the MSM to force them to nominate a liberal socialist in the "Manchurian Candidate" McCain.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 300 million - are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, Central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and Lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a Congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing.

I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million Dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of Party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving Appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and
fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.

When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because whey want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ.

If they do are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like 'the economy,' 'inflation,' or 'politics' that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided the voters have the gumption to
    manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

What you do with this article now that you have read it is up to you, though you appear to have several choices:
    1. You can send this to everyone in your address book, and hope' they' do something about it.
    2. You can agree to 'vote against' everyone that is currently in office, knowing that the process will take several years.
    3. You can decide to 'run for office' yourself and agree to do the job properly.
    4. Lastly, you can sit back and do nothing, or re-elect the current bunch.

YOU DECIDE, BUT AT LEAST SEND IT TO EVERYONE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK, MAYBE SOMEONE IN THERE WILL DO
    SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

Government is not reason. It is not eloquence. It is power and like fire, it can be a deadly servant and a fearful master.

Do you really think that a third party would not be persuaded??? Come on, it starts at the local level and being involved with who is representing your community/town/city/county and state... We always want to blame the guy at the top but should realize we are to blame by not knowing who we are electing locally... There was a time when everyone in the community would
show up to a local government function, now I guess it's probably 3 to 5 percent... The majority of this country can stand up to any lobbyist if we took the time to find out the information and speak out... It's amazing what a 100,000 or more phone calls or emails can do.

Note: Democrats are far better than Republicans at this.

I am non-party affiliated and I vote based on the person, that persons stance on the issues at hand, and whether or not I perceive them to be honest. I could really care less as to which party the candidates claim as their own. We need to get rid of the two party system and get real here.
  • raves +4   [-] by scrshaw

    Answered No

Absolutely not! The 2 party system is antiquated and needs to go. We need to have more actual choices. There are many fine 3rd party candidates, but no one ever gets to hear their message because they don't have the big advertising budgets of the big 2. Even when people do hear them, they figure voting on a 3rd party candidate is a wasted vote. So a lot of voters, including myself, reluctantly try and decide which one of the big 2 is not as full of it as the other and vote for them.
  • raves +2   [-] freedomforever replied to scrshaw
scrshaw, i totally understand your view, however, i believe that if everyone those that are tired of only the 2 choices, voted for whom they wanted instead of one of the party choices, that would start us going in the right direction, its a matter of numbers and people actually voting their mind instead of giving in and voting for someone they dont believe in ! i will write in my candidate regardless because i refuse to be prevented from voting for whom i think is best for the job, i refuse to help anyone put into office someone whom i think will only mess things up further, its a matter of personal integrity.....
  • raves +2   [-] scrshaw replied to freedomforever
I agree with you. I've been voting Libertarian for years, but they just never get enough votes to even come close.
This year, however, it's just too important that a particular candidate does not get in. So I'm choosing the other just to help make sure that doesn't happen.
