RushmoreDrive is a new search engine aimed for the use by African-Americans. It's content and ad's are all focused on what they believe the African-American community would like to see. All their searches are influenced by a value-driven, culture-based ideal of what they think the African-American population wants to search for. Many people have become concerned that this borders on segregation. And who are the makers of RushmoreDrive.com to say what African-Americans want to see in their searches?

Their focus is on black culture and black people, while there is nothing wrong with that, imagine if someone started a search engine for white folks...
it does straddle the line of segregation though..
amazing how after years of fighting against slavery, racism, and segregation, the entire race is slowly bringing themselves back to just that...
after a few hundred years of being called niggers, it's been decided that saying nigger is bad.. so just get rid of the 'er' and end the word with an 'a'... changes the whole meaning, so long as it is only said by black folk...
after years of fighting for the right to use the same restrooms, schools, and water fountains, amongst many other things, there are black search engines and black schools...
after centuries of slavery, blacks wanted to be free, and wanted to be educated... now a days, more and more young blacks are barely literate, very uneducated, on the streets selling drugs and in jails...
not saying there aren't other people of different races that are stupid and doing similar things.. but you would think that with all the educational opportunities available today, more people would be taking advantage of it..
I see a ton of programs available to "minorities" that are almost impossible to be received by whites....
so why are these urban areas still full of lazy stupid drug dealers and criminals? -

Out dated. The time has come to get rid of this ***-American nonsense. If I walked around saying I'm European-American people would wonder what kind of drugs I'm on.
I had a friend in the military that used to introduce himself to black people as Australian-American (he was black but his family came from Australia).
The white guys thought it was funny but the blacks thought he was a traitor to his race.
Enough is enough! Why can't we just be Americans? (I know I'm going to be called naive - among other things - but hey, I'm just expressing my opinion.)

It is geared toward African-Americans (or as I like to call them, Americans), but it is not segregate because it doesn't require the user to be of a specific ethnicity. It is no different than 'Black Men Magazine'. The target audience is clear, but they don't stop my white friend Erik from purchasing it either. -

I researched this site personally,and I didn't find anything that appeared inherently racist.It does appear to be directed at the black community(which brings up the 'double-standard' issue,I guess you could say),but anyone can use their site apparently(I was able to browse around,search,etc and I am white :-) -

Just a reflection of the times. Turn on BET and you'll see ad after ad geared toward Black Americans. Rent a "Black" Movie and all the previews are more "Black" movies... I'm not saying its right, but it's just the way it its. Some things will never change. Capitalism is an ugly green monster. -

He is not a racist. The website probably owned by blacks and want blacks to support their business and that is why it has more information regarding blacks. Whites do not have us or other minorities in mind when they develop their products. Do you remember how long it took for white business to create a make line for women of color?

My father is black and he said something to me once when I was 16 because I went to almost a all balck school and they would beat the shit out me because I was white , he said " My skin is black but my heart is read" I love the same , I feel the pain and I know I am just a man with darker skin. I am still red inside with a mind to tell me I can see the future in my eyes by not being like everybody else. THAT WAS MY FATHERS CHANGE IN HIS BLACK HISTORY. But sign of the times - Okay for the blacks to segregate themselves in the name of finding their identity, but not for other races to segregate them out. Now, if whites do that, they are racists. I agree with Dixie Girl. It IS racist, but who cares? If they want to separate themselves from the mainstream, then I suppose they are entitled to do so. But it seems as Dixie Girl stated, blacks fought to be accepted and to be a part of the US citizentry, then they decide they want to separate themselves. Personally, I wish they would carry their separatists ideas a bit further, and buy homes in neighborhoods that cater to those who want to live as they do. I am so tired of houses in my neighborhood with grass a foot tall, windows broken, paint chipping, gutters falling off, and weeds galore around their hedges bringing down MY property value. You can call that statement racist all you choose, because I am not afraid of a label. It is the truth, just come to my neighborhood if you don't believe me. They come in, often on section 8 housing, the house gets run down, the owner decides to ditch it, because it becomes a losing investment, the dilapidated house sells at 50% of the normal value due to the ramshackle state the house is in, then when someone with a nice house in the neighborhood wants to sell, they are penalized because of the neighborhood comparables that are available for the appraisal. Like it or not, it's the truth.

but do i care? no. if they want to contradict years of protesting and fighting that their ancestors did to end slavery, segregation, and earn the right to vote and stuff, it hurts them, not me. i think it's stupid that if me or some other white person created a search engine to help whites it would be racist, but if a minority creates one it's just them displaying pride or helping their people. i'm not gonna get upset about it because i do what i want without discretion to who it will offend and they have the right to do what they want just like everyone else. who cares if it's racist? we all have the right to do what we want, but no one has the right to not be offended.
