I have had 3 cats hit by cars. One managed to make it home & I had to rush her to a vet for surgery. She survived and became even more of a love. One was just left in the road & that really hurt! The third, a neighbor brought home. She was an indoor cat (we had learned our llesson) but had snuck out & slept on their engine block & got badly torn up when he started his car. She had many surgeries but only lived a few years. It was so important that we got her back though. My Dad was heartbroken.
I remember seeing some boys in a Jeep hit a boxer in the middle of the night. They stopped long enough to see it was badly hurt & took off. I pulled over & held the poor thing until it died. It was so scared & just having someone pet it & talk to it calmed it down so much. Poor little things. They don't know what's happening & any help you can give them is so important. -
Answered No, probably not
I don't drive my vehicle on private property or on someone's lawn so if by chance I did run over a cat on a public road.... It is not my responsibility to do anything, see ya!
I respect and enjoy pets but my family and friends mean more to me.
So keep your animals on your own property and they won't get run over! -

i would try my best to find the owner to tell them that i ran over there cat and i would buy the a new one because i know how its fells to have your cat run away and someone ran over it and did tell you. it feels horrible and i would not want to make someone else feel like i did when it happen to me. -

Yes, if you know who the owner is you should tell them.
My dad was walking our dog late at night on my 13th birthday, when the dog ran into the street just as a car came around the corner. The dog was killed and the driver did stop to apologize. But my dad punched him anyway. That was the worst birthday I've ever had.

Well, let me tell you a little story. So my neighbor used to drive this big, black truck.
One day, he shows up at our door. He's holding a large bundle of black fur. He holds it out to my father and says, "I'm sorry, but he just came out of no where. I think I hit your cat."
Suddenly, the ball of fuzz comes to life, hissing and growling and scratching up a storm. Naturally, the neighbor drops the cat, who then screeches into the house, annoucing his presence with his beautiful voice.
Now, if that neighbor hadn't brought the cat and had just drove on by, Would he had ever known that the cat had survived? He would have been eaten alive with guilt. It would've nawed at him. Like acid, torn away at his consicous. He, no doubt, would have come over to retell his story. Only to find the cat in perfect condition.
See, this is the right thing to do. Otherwise the cat will haunt you for the rest of your days, especially is you're a dog lover. =D
