2008 GOP Convention: Should Bush stay home?

Current President, George W. Bush, is scheduled to speak opening night at the 2008 Republican Convention. With worry in their eyes, the Republican party is weary as what to do about Bush attending. John McCain is trying desperately to remove himself from the Bush shadow, and there are many supporters of McCain who simply wish Bush would stay home, and out of the way of the convention.

Answered No. As current president, it is his right and duty for Bush to speak at the convention.

Every time bush opens his mouth it's at least one more vote for Senator Obama, so OF COURSE he should speak at the convention. Let him speak every day, night and day. Let him be the guy who says "Alabama casts its 42 votes for .....". Anything he can do to help get his party out of power would earn the everlasting gratitude of the American people (and the Iraqi people, and the Canadian people, and the British people, and the French people .......)

Answered Yes, George W. Bush needs to start taking big steps away from John McCain.

Yes Bush should stay home. As far as I am concerned he and Cheney should stay in the white house and play checkers until their terms are over. Or, better yet, pack their bags early and get out. The longer he sits behind that desk the worse off this country becomes.

Answered It's not going to make a difference whether Bush speaks or not.

We know they are joined at the hip...Bush could be at the North Pole, but we still know that Bush/Cheney/Rove will still be running the country if McCain gets elected.

Answered No. As current president, it is his right and duty for Bush to speak at the convention.

THEY SHOULD ALLOW HIM TO SPEAK THE ENTIRE CONVENTION.

GEORGE BUSH IS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF A REPUBLICAN AND THEIR BELIEFS.

HE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO SPEAK 3 QTRS OF THE CONVENTION THEN MCSAME AND HIS VP CAN WRAP UP WITH THEIR ACCEPTANCE SPEECHES.

" BUSH THE MODEL REPUBLICAN. "

You said many things that are relevant. And I like having video of Letterman's 'speeches'. But please remove your sexist comment. McCain's VP choice is a shallow, idiotic attempt to get Hillary voters. But you don't need to be even more shallow in your wording.

    I'll edit it.

Bill Clinton showed up and took up two days and all the air at the DNC, so George should show up, make a speech, and get back to work. There's lots to do and a hurricane comin'

What is going to make the difference is still to be seen, I can't see either 1 winning; However, I know 1 will!

Bush should stay away but he won't. Some of McCain'ssupporters will gumble but I think most will let it go. The media willdrive the point home about Bush and McCain being cut out of the same cloth.

I hope he does. It will be good for the nation to see how faithful McCain will be to Bush's agenda.

would be a good idea for him to speak via satellite if he has to speak. It errrrrrks me that he still has no clue that this country has gone to shatz since he became president...But on the other hand, let him speak at the convention and show how this country has been lead by a puppet that McCain will also become if he is not already!!

    WHY CAN'T BUSH SPEAK?

YOU GUYS VOTED HIM INTO OFFICE NOW IT'S LIKE YOU THINK HE'S THE DEVIL OR SOMETHING.

I THINK HE WOULD GIVE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY A HUGE BUMP IN THE POLLS.

BUSH AND MCSAME ARE BOTH GREAT RPUBLICANS!

Bush is a well meaning guy that can't finish a job and spends like crazy. McCain is not that man.

HE WANTS TO MAKE BUSH'S TAX CUTS PERMANENT AND HE FOR SOME REASON WANTS US TO SPEND THE REST OF OUR DAYS FIGHTING IN IRAQ.

EVEN THOUGH THAT COUNTRY WANTS OUR FORCES OUT.
