Does God believe in Atheists?
Everyone knows there is a God. The evidence is all around us. In fact, the Creator designed the universe so that His many invisible attributes would be “clearly seen” in the things He made, so that we are “without excuse” (Romans 1:20).“Despite his wonders, they did not believe.” Psalm 78:32.
Romans 1:18–21 has a more direct statement. Those who have never heard are willfully guilty for rejecting God because God has revealed Himself clearly in the wonders of creation.
“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all impiety and injustice of men, who are seeking to suppress the truth by means of their unrighteous lives.” (Romans 1:18)
The Greek word for suppress” means “holding down,” like chains in a prison. This same word was used to describe Joseph’s imprisonment in Genesis 39.
No matter how hard people wrestle to suppress God’s truth, God will not let them put it in a cage. Humans are “seeking”—but failing—to suppress the truth.
“Because the thing which can be known about God is evident in them, because God made it known to them.” (Romans 1:19)
When we witness to people, we don’t have to worry about proving God’s existence. According to this verse, God makes Himself evident, open, and plain to everyone. He literally placed evidence “in them.” Apparently God placed a knowledge of Himself within all men—inside their minds, in their hearts, in the very core of their being.
The verb is present tense. God did not reveal Himself in the past and then stop. He continues to reveal Himself within us now.
So when people try to appease their conscience and justify their sin, they must suppress their knowledge of God. They grab at straws to patch together a cage around the truth. But God’s truth breaks free, like a tiger ill-suited for captivity.
God Himself takes a personal interest in making sure that each one of us has knowledge of Him.
God knows that all people fight against this knowledge. Jesus could say to everyone what He once said to Saul, a zealous Pharisee, “It is hard for you to kick against the pricks” (Acts 9:5). He pricks every heart, letting each person know about Him.
“For his invisible attributes are thoroughly known from the creation of the cosmos, being known by means of the things which have been made, whether his eternal power or divinity . . . .” (Romans 1:20a)
The Creator is Clearly Seen.
What can we see about God? His invisible attributes! The Greek verb kathoratai intensifies the standard Greek word meaning “to see.” So we don’t merely “see” God’s attributes, but we literally see them “down” to the core. We clearly perceive, we abundantly know, we thoroughly recognize God’s invisible attributes.
God reveals Himself in two ways. One is through the special revelation of the Bible. Through the Bible God spells out the path to salvation. God also communicates through the “general” revelation of creation. While it does not replace the saving truths that mankind must learn in the Bible, creation clearly teaches all men and women that God exists and that certain things are true about Him.
According to the Bible, people already know the Creator and are desperately seeking any excuse to dispute His existence. As 2 Peter 3:5 says, “They deliberately ignore” the evidence that everyone plainly sees.
Romans 1:20 spells out the attributes that we can see in the world—God’s eternal nature and divine power. The Greek word for eternal, “a-i-di-os,” is unusual. It is related to the Greek word meaning “always.” God has caused an “always-ness” to be evident in the created order, and people connect this “always-ness” with the idea of a personal God.
His divinity, deity, divine nature is “thei-ot-ēs.” This term summarizes all the attributes that make God who He is. So God’s revelation of Himself is pretty all-encompassing. . . so that they are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20b)
These are sobering words. The wonders of God preach His glory to all men. No man or woman can say, “I did not know” or “The revelation was not clear.” This God, who reveals Himself and knows all hearts, concludes of every man, woman, and child, “They are without excuse.”
“For, although they were knowing God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks.” (Romans 1:21)
God has given us ears to hear, eyes to see, and hearts to understand. He could have left us in the dark because of our willful effort to cage His truth and because of our impiety and injustice. Yet God wants all to take His free offer of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Answered I have declared independence from God.
If God does exist I don't want to worship an omnipotent being who created me just so I could worship him without giving me a choice whether or not to be created.
If I'd known that once I existed on this Earth that I'd have to make a choice I would've just said "no thanks".
But that doesn't matter because I do not believe in God and so my existence is not an issue. I was just the winner of the egg and sperm race. -

Answered I have declared independence from God.
In the bible God killed an awful lot of people, or had them killed, or gave his blessing to have them killed. Christianity has followed suit - crusades, inquisitions, holy wars - I don't worship mass murderers.
There are trillions of solar systems in this galaxy - there are billions of galaxies in our universe. If there is some sort of greater being - then where is it - and why would it even care about a species smaller than what a virus is to us? -

Answered Undecided
since there the assumption that there is a christian god, "undecided" does not really represent MY feelings, but that is christianity for ya.... it is the bloodiest religion ever invented by man...up to and including islam (a close second) just think, the symbol of the religion is a man (supposedly god's --only begotten???--son) hanging from a cross to which he is nailed. nice. and then there were the burning of "witches" all across europe and the us. nice. and let's not forget the inquisition. lovely.
so save all that god crap for somebody else--i have a brain and have thought it though and have read many books on it and--i reject it completely.
now, if you want a kind gentle religion that physists say makes sense, think buddhism. a thinking persons religion. i like it but am not a buddhist. really it is all unknowable.
mark me down as an agnostic who definitly does NOT -
raves +4 Jul 17, 2008 11:08PM GMTI agree it is bloody. The death of Jesus was so gruesome that you can certainly understand why God would send anyone to Hell that rejects Him. If you went to all that trouble and people told you no thanks, what would KIDD do?
The burning of witches is an unrelated issue. Bhuddism is a good religion for atheists. Except you have to work to achieve nothingness. Darwinism is much easier. -
raves +2 Jul 17, 2008 11:56PM GMTThis is the best scapegoat ever. Look at how much this scapegoat has suffered. I mean, what has happened to it is so disgusting, so brutal, so unthinkable. Don't you want to pin your guilt on this scapegoat?
The fact that someone went through pre-medieval torture is not proof of anything. And yes, it was brutal in today's terms. But it was commonplace back then. -
raves +3 Jul 18, 2008 01:02AM GMT (edited)No. Jesus died to remove not only my sins, but my guilt. He doesn't require us to feel guilty. Only requires grattitude. And that I am. I'm thankful to Him for all He has done for me. And yes, scapegoat is a good example. This was a Jewish ritual required by God. These were typologies representing Jesus.
"Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me (Jesus)." John 5:39 -
raves +2 Jul 18, 2008 01:18PM GMT (edited)I'm going to give you an example of what you are saying...
I have just cut off my finger for you. I went into the bathroom and used my Swiss Army Knife to cut off my left index finger. I did this for your eternal salvation. Now, I require your gratitude.
With your clear-thinking modern mind, you are probably thinking, this guy's whacked! I don't need to be grateful for anything this crazy bozo has done, even if it was for me. In fact, I'm calling 911. -
raves +2 Jul 18, 2008 05:58PM GMTThat wouldn't work. Another human being cannot save you. He's a sinner just like you are. Only the sinless God-Man could offer this sacrifice. He had to be God, yet human. And He had to be a kinsmen redeemer. In other words He was related to all of us. The death on the cross could not save the fallen angels because He would have to die for each one individually. Even that wouldn't work because He would have to be an angel. Angels are not a race like man. They are an order of beings.

raves +1 Jul 18, 2008 06:17PM GMTWe might as well start talking about the skilled prowess of Hercules, and should he be able to defeat King David in hand to hand combat.
Originally, Jesus was born to Joseph, a carpenter, and Mary, his betrothed. (And that was ALL that was said.) Jesus didn't gain partial deity status until a few centuries after his death. -
raves +1 Jul 18, 2008 06:36PM GMTOK, you probably haven't heard the bad news about Santa yet, either. When you just make up stuff, there is no logic in what you say. If you want to discuss the way the world actually turns, and the documents we really have, I'll be glad to come back and help you.

raves +2 Jul 18, 2008 07:32PM GMTWell, time to shake off the dust. You've already proven that nothing will convince you. Willful ignorance is a waste of time.
"Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly." (Prov. 13:16)
Today that scripture has been fulfilled. Santa Clause, Hercules, Easter Bunny? (snicker) -
raves +2 Jul 18, 2008 08:19PM GMTI had a tumor in my stomach disappear. I had about 18 warts that I couldn't get rid of for two years. I tried everything. Then one day I had the faith and went up for prayer. They started shrinking immediately. Three days later they were gone. I had a four thousand pound furnace belt land on my foot and shattered my baby toe so bad that they couldn't even fix it. It was swelled bigger than my big toe. The x-ray almost made the doctor sick. I had prayer for it and took my oversized shoe off and watched the swelling go down, back to normal. When I went back for x-rays it looked like it had never been broken. I've had real experiences with Jesus Himself. You wouldn't believe it, so I won't bother. Not to mention seeing real poltergiest activity with twenty other witnesses (before I was a Christian).

raves +2 Jul 18, 2008 08:27PM GMTWell, you are either fortunate, or God likes you better than the millions of his followers he lets suffer.
"To the uneducated, science looks like magic." If you knew all the reasons why each of those events occurred, and had them all explained, you still wouldn't want to let go of your stigma. I have seen many things that looked like magic to me turn out to be explained by science. On the other hand, I have never seen science become magic.
In the end, you love your stigma, and logic can't do anything about that. -
