Rock Against (your answer here).?

In light of the posibility of a second term of the Bush administration, the Punk band NOFX began a musical/political project aimed to encourage young people to vote (against Bush). Many other bands contributed songs that expressed anti-bush messages, which were compiled into two compilation albums known as Rock Against Bush (Vol. 1&2). Bands that contibuted to this project included Sum 41, Green Day, Bad Religion, Dropkick Murpheys, NoFX, Flogging Molly, and many other punk/hardcore bands. Obviously, the project failed, as Bush went on to his second term as president of the United States.
However...

If NOFX or another band were to start a similar project for the 2008 presidential election, who do you think they should "Rock Against..."?

I hate when actors and musicians talk about politics. They have no right. There political views are not what we want to hear. Shut the hell up and just sing. There is little that I watch on TV or movies now and the music list is getting smaller.

I could care less who NOFX or any other celebrity, musician, etc. wants in or out of the White House. NOFX lost any music credibility with me when they put Green Day and Sum 41 on that album.

Rock against the socialists - McKinney and Obama.
I'll wait to see who McCain picks as a running mate before adding him to the list.

I enjoy my freedom to own my life and business without the fear of the government taking my profits or my liberty. I would love to heart a song that does not espouse the liberal views.

Ok but I still have to go with Obama. Ron Paul is a great man and I wish he was running instead of McCain but Obama is my guy.

I don't think they should rock against anyone. Leave the youth to make up their own minds by studying the facts. Bush was asking for it because he had already displayed his inability to succeed during his first term.
I wonder what effect the music actually had..

How about just shut up and sing or shut up and act. I can't stand that I know where many actors and actresses stand on political issues. It makes me not want to see them in the movies. I have never seen one of the Oceans movies because of the actors in it. I am sure the movies are good but cannot stand to give them my money.

AMEN! Maybe you could include "Hanoi" Jane, Sean "the traitor" Penn, Alec Baldwin for not leaving this country as promised, and that wack job: Bill Maher! There are too many to mention here.
  • raves     [-] diaverde08-[SHTPP]-Paul2012 replied to Janet
We're not talking about Actors or Popstars! This is about punk rock bands, many of which are not mainstream and some of which that aren't even signed to a lable yet trying to express their views through music.
  • raves +2   [-] Janet replied to diaverde08-[SHTPP]-Paul2012
Maybe you didn't read my response when I wrote "shut up and sing"! I don't want to hear politics of any kind sung. So if you don't like the answer don't ask the question

No, i'm not serious in the least bit. However, you sound like you're taking this too seriously. Chill out a bit. This poll is meant to be fun. If you're going to leave angry comments spam someone else's poll.

    Answered Rock Against Obama

I would say Obama, but let's get real, many of these bands talk tough against the U.S., we're enemy number 1 to them as well. So they fit right into the liberal left message of the U.S. is the cause of all evil. Do these groups even put out a song that is appreciative of America and the rights they have?
  • raves     [-] by Icedragon1969

    Answered All of the above

I'd hope they'd rock against both. Personally I say it's time for -real- change in the American political system and a cracking of the power monopoly of the Demon-crats and Rip-off-publicans.

These actors, musicians and comediens that use the election or the candidates as a vehicle to make money are a disgrace.
They do have influence on the uneducated and the empty-headed voters I am sorry to say and thus cause BAD VOTES!
