These are Quotes about the BIBLE from some of Greatest Men in History. Which Do YOU think is the best Quote?
These are Quotes about the BIBLE from some of Greatest Men and one woman in History.
If you are new to one of my polls, and I have 113 current ones. I put a good deal of time into these and really research as well as put time into my graphics so I hope you enjoy this one. I was reading today in one of the 25 or so magazine I read a month, and I ran across this quote from George Washington "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God or the Bible." My Website is about God and Country but not necessarily about religion, so I stopped and reread and absorbed that since there is so much clamor from the liberal left about taking "In God We Trust "out of everything they can. Since removing The Pledge of Allegiance out of the public classroom is a current issue, as are other Biblical and religious issues. I decided to see what some of our other historic great men had as testimonies. I spent the day finding ten for you to chose from. They are from some of the most fascinating people in history for you to pick from. Hopefully you will know them but I will tell you a little something about them.
Immanuel Kant IPA: [ɪmanuəl kant] (22 April 1724 – 12 February 1804) was an 18th-century German philosopher from the Prussian city of Königsberg (now Kaliningrad, Russia). He is regarded as one of the most influential thinkers of modern Europe and of the late Enlightenment.
Among his most important works are the Critique of Pure Reason and the Critique of Practical Reason, which examine the relation of epistemology, metaphysics, and ethics. And his quote is "The existence of the Bible, as a book for the people, is the greatest benefit which the human race has ever experienced. Every attempt to
belittle it is a crime against humanity."
I could have chose dozens of incredible testimonies, but had to leave these 10. And I have to shorten the reasons why. ALTHOUGH I could write forever on for example this President Theodore Roosevelt October 27, 1858 – January 6, 1919), also known as T.R., and to the public (but never to friends and intimates) as Teddy, was the twenty-sixth President of the United States, and a leader of the Republican Party and of the Progressive Movement. He served in many roles including Governor of New York, historian, naturalist, explorer, author, and soldier. He is most famous for his personality: his energy, his vast range of interests and achievements, his model of masculinity, and his "cowboy" persona. Teddy bears are named after him.
As Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Roosevelt prepared for and advocated war with Spain in 1898. He organized and helped command the 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment — the Rough Riders — during the Spanish-American War. Returning to New York as a war hero, he was elected governor. He was a professional historian, a lawyer, a naturalist and explorer of the Amazon Basin; his 35 books include works on outdoor life, natural history, the American frontier, political history, naval history, and his autobiography. His quote -- "If a man is not familiar with the Bible, he has suffered
a loss which he has better make all possible haste to correct."In 1901, as Vice President, the 42-year-old Roosevelt succeeded President William McKinley after McKinley's assassination by anarchist Leon Czolgosz.
Doubtfully many of his will have many of the bill's with the 28th President's picture on it. As it is a $100,000.00 bill.
Thomas Woodrow Wilson (December 28, 1856—February 3, 1924), was the twenty-eighth President of the United States. A devout Presbyterian, and leading intellectual of the Progressive Era, he served as President of Princeton University , Wilson was elected President as a Democrat in 1912. His quote "When you have read the Bible, you will know it is the Word of God, because you will have found the key to your own heart, your own happiness, your own duty."
Charles Dickens 1812 – 1870 foremost English novelist of the Victorian era, as well as a vigorous social campaigner. Considered one of the English language's greatest writers, he was acclaimed for his rich storytelling and memorable characters, and achieved massive worldwide popularity in his lifetime. The Adventures of Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol , David Copperfield, Bleak House, A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, The Pickwick Papers, and The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. The quote "The New Testament is the very best that ever was or ever will be known in the world."
Sir Isaac Newton, 4 January 1643 – 31 March 1727 was an English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, alchemist and theologian. Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica published in 1687, is considered to be the most influential book in the history of science. In this work, Newton described universal gravitation and the three laws of motion, laying the groundwork for classical mechanics, which dominated the scientific view of the physical universe for the next three centuries and is the basis for modern engineering. Newton showed that the motions of objects on Earth and of celestial bodies are governed by the same set of natural laws by demonstrating the consistency between Kepler's laws of planetary motion and his theory of gravitation, thus removing the last doubts about heliocentrism and advancing the scientific revolution. And his quote you may want to consider or rather think about for a minute. - "There are more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible foremost than in any profane history."

Thomas Henry Huxley 1825 – 1895 was an English biologist, known as "Darwin's Bulldog" for his advocacy of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. Huxley's famous 1860 debate with the Lord Bishop of Oxford, Samuel Wilberforce, was a key moment in the wider acceptance of evolution, and in his own career. Wilberforce was coached by Richard Owen, against whom Huxley also debated on whether man was closely related to apes. Huxley was slow to accept some of Darwin's ideas, such as gradualism, and was undecided about natural selection, but despite this he was wholehearted in his public support of Darwin. He was instrumental in developing scientific education in Britain, and fought against the more extreme versions of religious tradition.
Huxley used the term 'agnostic' to describe his own views on religion, a term whose use has continued to the present day, and which throws light on his demanding criteria for proof in science. Thomas Huxley 's testimony is "The Bible has been the Magna Charta of the poor and
oppressed. The human race is not in a position to dispense with it."
George Washington 1732- 1799 was the first President of the United States, and led the Continental Army to victory over the Kingdom of Great Britain in the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783).
Washington was chosen to be the commander-in-chief of the American revolutionary forces in 1775. The following year, he forced the British out of Boston, lost New York City, and crossed the Delaware River in New Jersey and defeated the surprised enemy units later that year. I'm sitting here listening to Rage against the Machine while I work on this poll, Thanking George for his battle cries and his frozen toes and ears that he almost lost so that I may have the freedoms I enjoy today and these LLL idiots have no idea what they are giving away. Yes you Looney Libs, if you aren't careful these same liberates will be lost that you take for granted. George Our First President, HIS QUOTE you lefties who want to throw God out of my White House, My Capitol, My Congress, My Senate, MY Public Schools, My Currency MY GOVERNMENT! he said.......... "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God or the Bible."
Napoleon I (born Napoleone di Buonaparte, later Napoleon Bonaparte) (15 August 1769 – 5 May 1821) was a French military and political leader who had a significant impact on modern European history. He was a general during the French Revolution, the ruler of France as First Consul of the French Republic, Emperor of the French, King of Italy, Mediator of the Swiss Confederation and Protector of the Confederation of the Rhine.
His Testimonies about the the Bible - "The Bible is no mere book, but a living creature, with a power that conquers all that oppose it."
Abraham Lincoln 1809–1865 the sixteenth President of the United States, successfully led his country through its greatest crisis, the Civil War, only to be assassinated less than a week after the war's end.
Before his election as President, Lincoln was a lawyer, a member of the United States House of Representatives, and an unsuccessful candidate for election to the Senate. As an outspoken opponent of the expansion of slavery in the United States, Lincoln won the Republican Party nomination in 1860 and was elected president later that year. During his term, he helped preserve the United States by leading the defeat of the secessionist Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. He introduced measures that resulted in the abolition of slavery, issuing his Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and promoting the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which passed Congress before Lincoln's death and was ratified by the states later in 1865'
Opponents of the war (also known as "Copperheads") criticized him for refusing to compromise on the slavery issue. Conversely, the Radical Republicans, an abolitionist faction of the Republican Party, criticized him for moving too slowly in abolishing slavery. He said "I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to
man. All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated to us through this book."
Patrick Henry 1736 – 1799 was a prominent figure in the American Revolution, known and remembered for his "Give me Liberty, or give me Death!" speech. Along with Samuel Adams and Thomas Paine, he was one of the most influential (and radical) advocates of the American Revolution and republicanism, especially in his denunciations of corruption in government officials and his defense of historic rights. He felt "The Bible is worth all other books which have ever been printed."
Victoria was the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and the first Empress of India 1876, until her death on 22 January 1901. Her reign as Queen lasted 63 years and seven months, longer than that of any other British monarch to date. Her reign is known as the Victorian era. Her legacy, "That book accounts for the supremacy of England."
As I said this could continue et cetera, I would like to close with something that is my favorite. Something of which you hear me preach ad nauseum ~
"History fails to record a single precedent in which nations subject to moral decay have not passed into political and economic decline. There has been either a spiritual awakening to overcome the moral lapse, or a progressive deterioration to ultimate national disaster"
General Douglas MacArthur

I thought it was a pretty poll as well, But it got very poor response you know. I was surprised, considering all my Bible reading friends. Wish more people had voted on it, I was very disappointed really as much work as I put into it and as many people as I though might enjoy it, but no takers!

Answered 6. Napoleon- "The Bible is no mere book, but a living creature, with a power
it wasn't easy to choose, but I believe that the best quotes are the ones that I felt came closer to describing the Bible is #6 The Bible is no mere book, but a living creature, with a power that conquers all that oppose it. and #8 It is rightly impossible to rightly govern the world without God or the Bible. -
Answered 9. Abraham Lincoln "I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to
I am choosing Abe Lincoln it was hard to chose just one. I'm sick of liberals thinking we all have to cut God out of our lives so we don't offend anyone. What about us being offended for the mere thought they expect us to cut Him out? Keep "In GOD We Trust" on our money and Under God in our Pledge of Allegiance. I believe the percentage is a far cry higher who wants to keep it then those who don't. Let them "get over it" and deal with the fact there are people who have different views than theirs. You don't want to believe or celebrate CHRISTmas that's your decision....leave the ones alone who do.

Cat.....you will not like it....I do not believe in god.....I have a different faith..... I will write for you some of the biblical words I do agree with....
.....Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.....
.....To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.....
.....A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.....
.....A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up.....
.....A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.....
.....A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.....
.....A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away.....
.....A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak.....
.....A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace..... -
